You have reached 'draft enlightenment',.... the one question that no one can really answer until after summer league and training camp.... :meditate:  :-D

Sometimes it takes two years

It feels like most of the players(in our drafting range) will take at least 1-2 seasons to contribute, however I don’t know their college or basketball history well enough to say that they can contribute first season.

From the Pacers workout videos you can’t really get a good sense of the players skills more so their personality and question answering skill. I sure do miss the videos from the box and one Adam Spinella.

Mathurin and Walker our highest draft picks showed us different results in immediate returns from Benn and future potential from Jarace.

Conversely Nembhard, I Jax, and Sheppard contributed right away. Kendall Brown was drafted late as a very young longer term prospect

Try Floor and Ceiling. Adam got a job with an NBA team.

Agreed. It feels like most of the players from this draft will need a bit longer to develop. A few have immediately translatable skills to the NBA, but most will, at the very least, take some refining before they begin to contribute. Though, I actually kinda like our potential vs immediate mix? It's good that everyone doesn't expect to play, even play certain minutes. :D

I second ya,... Miss Coach Spins. Always had great insight,... and so good at communicating that insight.

I think the lesson of Nembhard and Shippard and even to some extent Duarte is that players who stay in college longer contribute much sooner. since the one and dones get drafted higher based on potential, there's a good chance for a high second round pick to be ready to play.

I think this is the last year for 'super seniors' to be draftable due to COVID? There are a number of second round prospects that are 23,.. a couple almost 24. You are right,.. they don't have the long term potential of some of the younger prospects,... but they are likely to be more immediate help. Dalton Knecht, Tristan da Silva, Tyler Kolek, & Terry Shannon,.. likely first rounders,.. will all be 23 when drafted.

Sam Vecenie made an interesting comment in his evaluation of this draft,... that one of the reasons this was a 'down' draft was because for every potential draftee,.. 'we can all see how they can fail'. He prefaced that by saying that some of the players from this year will succeed, but,...

The Star has an article with 15 second round names. They are basically the names I've been looking at. I like Bona

According to Vecenie, while this year’s top 10 is considered weak, the depth in the 10-25 range is viewed as strong, with the rest of the class at about the usual level.

I would like to see Pacers trade up in the draft and take Zach Edey.

Unfortunately the Pacers don’t draft in 10-25 range. The Pacers draft in the most likely to be an average player part of the draft. I sure hope 1 of 4 favorable scenarios happen.

1) I hope that some teams picking before the Pacers stash players and leave worthwhile players to draft or hidden gems can be found.

2) If all the best talent is gone the Pacers then can trade this year’s picks to a team for that team’s next year’s second round picks since that draft is supposedly stronger talent then.

3) This year’s picks can be traded for an inexpensive player that doesn’t fit another team’s plans and will fit our agenda.

4) They can sell picks off to a team wanting into the second round again rather than draft G league talent.

1 player good enough to make the roster is a must.
2 players quality enough for roster is a win this draft
No players good enough to make the roster is unfortunate.

He’d be limited to 15ish minutes a night, max, trying to play super up tempo with Haliburton/McConnell, no?

I like this speculative final draft ranking leaving some decent options to draft.

36 Adem Bona Center
49 Enrique Freeman Wing
50 Jalen Bridges Wing

I'd take that happily although I'd like a Afro-Euro stash at 50.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the pacers take a big at 36 and then try to combine the 2 later picks and move up for a somewhat higher 2nd maybe even add a future 2nd and try to get into the bottom of the 1st.

Likewise

Did you see the Pacers qualifying offer to Obi ?

Shocked it’s 1 year for 7.74 million. Wow I hope they like him more than that ? Must be strategy to match someone else’s offer ?
