Better defensive rating too along with great TS%. Of course a ton of people wanted Clarke and we had like the 9th pick.

Clarke was also projected to be strictly a big on offense though wasn't he? Bigs have more leeway when it comes to poor shooting as they aren't as expected to spread the floor.

Not really. I mean I think PF since he could guard them, though he didn't have a great wingspan so some didn't like that (even though if you can avg 4.1 blocks per 36 does it matter?). But maybe Dunn is a bit more of a wing and Clarke a PF, however, Clarke was only .75 inches taller and was 7 lbs lighter.

IIRC basically every place had Clarke projected to be a PF/C whereas Dunn is a wing that can occasionally guard 1-5. He was comped to dudes like Kenyon Martin, Jordan Bell and Larry Nance Jr

I would take Ayton for Nurkic if Ayton was paid the same as Nurkic.

RW3 would be a good idea if he played a bit more. Suns don't have the luxury of hoping he's healthy. He played 61 games in the 2021-22 season, but besides that, he really hasn't been healthy his entire career.

SideSwipe wrote:Side take on the Durant rumors, which Mat has 95% squashed, but what if Durant was moved as part of the effort to pull LBJ to the Valley, bring back CP3.

Is the following team better than we are today?

CP3
Beal
Booker
LBJ
Nurkic

If the deal is agreed to in principle, Suns go ahead and grab Bronny in the 2nd round with a pick or picks in a salary dump of Little. We keep #22 to spend on Ware/Missy/Edey. This is a very unlikely scenario, but I wonder if an attempt at something like that stoked the rumor flames. #3 pick, Sengun, Thompson , and HOU players head to LAL to build around Davis.

I had that thought too...that KD would be traded because he wanted LeBron instead, but it would have to be a trade with LA I think. Hopefully not.

We really better not touch Bronny in the 1st round though (I know you said 2nd round).

Memphis got their Steven Adams replacement...a bit less physical, but taller, bigger and a beast offensively.

A year late on that one :)

In a season or 2, start players will begin to go to San Antonio and it's all over.

Perfect team though. Scoring threat inside, and they can hit 3s...Bane, JJJ, Kennard...then they have Ja and Smart so they not only have a lot of shooters, but with Smart, JJJ, Bane and Clarke they have some serious defense too along with a huge big with a 7'10 wingspan in the middle. He is the one young guy with the length to battle Wemby a bit.

I don't know anything about him but that seems like a lot to be traded for an unknown. I'd have been really pissed if the Suns did that (let's see if this post ages well :) )

bwgood77 wrote:Yeah, just no on Bronny. Kolek makes the most sense by far.

I'd be ok with Dunn, but I'd definitely rather have a better prospect.

And our biggest needs are a ball handler, high iq, leadership guy/PG, and a defensive C. Dunn would only be good enough for garbage minutes now. We'd hope he can contribute in the future, but it would be a toss up.

He seems like a good pick in the 2nd round (or possibly 1st) for a young team with a ton of offensive firepower.

Flip makes more sense. He can handle, distribute and board- while being a big. Which in turn, allows us to play both Booker and Beal.

I must really be out on the NBA.

Why the **** would you draft someone with a #8 pick and then trade him for **** 6 years from now?

Minnesota with Dillingham to eventually replace Conley. Dillingham a 44.4% 3pt shooter and per 36 #s of 23.5, 6 and 1.7 steals.

Nice fit with Edwards, McDaniels, Towns and Gobert......then Naz Reid and Anderson off the bench. But of course he will be behind Conley and can learn from him a bit.

This is a weak draft. Probably want to gain some assets to make a trade for someone like Dejounte Murray or maybe someone else in a couple of years to pair with Wemby.

Perhaps they were not really high on anyone outside of the guy they got at 4 and figured they will have a couple of maxes on the books by 2030 and would prefer more rookie contracts then.

They also still have 2 picks in the 2nd round.

Are we really expecting a draft pick today?
