He only played bball for a few short years. Playing at UConn masked how raw he truly was. He was exposed once he hit the floor. I wonder how Edey will look in the post playing next to 3J and how his fit will make the Grizzlies either a bigger threat or will he underwhelm before our very eyes.

I think he will have to develop a true 3pt shot to justify this pick. If that happens then I think on offense this will be a great fit and allow JJJ to roam on D again and have a dominate rebounder. We have to change our D back to more of a drop coverage when he is in the game but that is not the end of the world. His combine agility numbers are promising but his in game reaction time seems slow to me. But maybe with more coaching that can be improved upon since he is rather new to the game like you stated.

Edey will need to improve on perimeter shooting as you stated. If he continues to improve on his overall game, Edey will make the Grizzlies a more promising threat than ever before.

We can safely say no one has improved as much as Edey. I am comfortable betting on his work ethic to not just be serviceable but give the Grizz a different dimension on both ends.

his floor is Steven Adams. Taking him #9 was a little high but you found your starting center. He will set screens, defend in drop coverage and be a deterrent at the rim. I think there's some pick n pop potential too. You guys need another wing shooter

I have nothing personal against Edey, and I wish him the best - he's a grizz now - but I am very disappointed in our front office with this move. For the first time, it feels like they settled on draft night. To make matters worse, they drafted for need/fit in the lottery rather than best player available; granted, this year is a bit muddled in that regard, but still.

The good news is that our FO has retained all of our assets for the upcoming deadline. Edey + assets will likely be a decent package for a matured starting 5.

Don't overthink it. Zach Edey is going to be really good for you all.

I got another look into his PNR defence. It looks bad.

I liked the pick, I think he“ll end up being a better player than Clingan

Hawks fan here. Wanted to weigh in on this.

I'm hella jealous. Edey is the most underrated pick in years. You guys won't be disappointed. By next year's NCAA, it will be evident just how bad the rest of that Purdue squad was.

The size of screen he provides will provide 5 lane freeways for Ja to drive. His sheer size and offensive skill will prevent most of the on ball double teams you were seeing on your guards. His presence will do more for your offense than any player drafted in the last few years.

Defensively, PNR defense matters less if you can't drive the lane. This guy is a space eater. All this talk of the PNR will disappear by mid season. I wanted him for the Hawks, I'd trade Capela straight up for him today. Do not doubt this pick 1 bit. In 3 years, when they do the redrafts on this class, he'll be listed top 3.

Little Budda will play in the Summer League! First points have been deserved.

The comparison is definitely flawed. Hope you are right about the ROY.

The comparison I was making to be more clear was about Edey's limited years of playing the game of bball in comparison to Thabeet's limited years of playing bball. The limited experience alone can make a difference from how much a player knows vs how much more they need to learn on the next level. My intention was not to compare both guys for their overall college careers.
