I look forward to Kobe and him having freedom to score.

I look forward to seeing Zaccharie Risacher play for us.

Zacc played 60+ games in the French League this past season. He was the last draftee playing basketball -- finishing up in only the last month.

Do we even want him to play at Summer League? Seems like he might benefit more from resting up after a long season run...

ZR needs to score 50 in his first SL game, then he can sit for the rest of the summer. The whole team just needs to force feed the ball to him. For PR purposes, Fields needs this.

Landry said they'll take that into account.

As much as I want to see him play this summer...it wouldn't make much sense long term.

The real debate: Should Zacc begin next season in the G-League after 60+ games as a semi pro in a more competitive league?

depends on what the final roster looks like.
GLeague season starts about a month after the NBA season.

Yes, I prefer him to be on the summer league roster, even if he only plays one, or two games.

I also prefer him to be on the active roster and not the G League roster.

Now that all these NBA players have pod casts, Teague's pod cast, Gil's pod cast, Rasheed's pod cast, etc.... it made me learn that building a young player's confidence matters.

I think Teague, Gil and other xNBA players would all say the same thing, "if you are the #1 pick, you can't be on the GL, and you even have to be a starter"

I agree, Zaccharie Risacher needs to start day one, and allow him to build his confidence up. He needs a minimum of 10 field goal attempts per game and 30mpg.

Man nah, the city needs to see something from the top pick. All this taking it slow only tightens the noose on Fields and co. ZR needs to hit the ground running. He'll only play 1-2 sl games and have months of rest until tc.

If we're still focused on winning games, starting a rail thin 19 year *old in a new offense, in a new league, in a new country seems like a bad idea.

Serious Questions:

when is the last time a 19 year old started for a playoff team?
What was that production/efficiency like?

Dereck Lively II started 40+ games for a mediocre Dallas team last season before mid season trades brought in two veteran big men.

That's all I got...

Luka, Lamelo, Wemby, Tony Parker, Kristap where 19yr pros and they did fine transitioning to the NBA.

Other international 19yrs struggled in the NBA because they didn't have a jump shot, which ZR doesn't have a problem with that.

The above is a pretty flawed list TBH.

Tony Parker was the only teen listed who started, played heavy minutes on a playoff team. His first season production was...modest.
(Playing for the greatest coach of this generation and alongside 2 future Hall of Fame big men certainly helped his transition.)

Luka and Wemby are all time great international prospects. Neither made the playoffs as rookies.

Porzingis had a decent rookie season for a bad NY team.

And LaMelo Ball....well. Not sure why you'd even want to compare him to our rookie.
atlantabbq99 wrote:I think he is the worst prospect in the draft.

A future bust and will be playing in China longer than in the NBA.

I will say, Risacher's game does not translate well to Summer League where it's more of an improvised, pickup style of play. As a catch and shoot guy, he's best suited for a structured offense next to high level distributors. If he plays Summer League without a legit PG running the show, i expect he'll look fairly pedestrian because he can't create much space on his own.

I hated that we put Kobe Bufkin in a similar position last summer, playing a position he was largely unfamiliar with. I hope we don't set the #1 pick in the draft class up for a similar letdown.

SIDENOTE: I'd like tyot see Killian Hayes get an opportunity on our SL Team. As a fellow frenchman who struggled badly with his transition, he could be a useful sounding board for keeping Zacc focused and positive as he adjusts to America.

Hell, bring Evan Fournier, Sekou Doumbouya and Frank Ntilikina over for a trial run, too.

Do you know that Doumbouya signed in the same league that Risacher and Salaün this last season (but only for the last 13 games of regular season to help one of the last teams on the way to be sent to second division)?

It won't make you happy as your not a fan of Risacher...
He scored 33pts Vs Salaün's team, and 26pts Vs Risacher's team

But the boxscore confirms that it was absolutely not the same context than for the two young guys:
Doumbouya got the main role of his team, playing 37 and 31 min and taking more shots than anybody else (but on good FG%)

Zacc played 65 games. He needs to wind down. His playoff run showed more than enough
Wemby only played 44 before being drafted

SL is a joke anyway
