Terrible pick. His layup percentage is in the teens. Terrible finisher at the rim outside of dunks and not especially athletic.

Never blocks shots despite being 6'10''

Terrible BBIQ on both sides of the ball.

He is 2 years away from being 2 years away.

Waste of a pick. Would have been better to trade for a future pick. Should have taken the best player Edey. Dillingham, Matas, Knecht, Carter, McCain and many others would have all been way better selections.

Fire everyone and start over.

Super glad you showed up after not being around to tell us how bad the pick is lol…

Request to change the name of this thread to "Black Dalton Knecht: The Tidjane Salaun Thread"

That was the highlight of the night for me. ESPN showing Salaun but thought he was Knecht lololol

On a serious note, this pick was dumb and I really, really hope I'm wrong. But it's gonna be tough when we're watching how good Clingan and Matas are by the time their rookie extensions are ready and Salaun is on his way back to France.

Wow, he really does play like Kai Jones. You got a good one, Greensboro.

On beer number 3 at the moment, and my dog came into the game room because he knows I'm upset. He's rarely in here. This kid has no NBA skill other than size, and that's not a skill.

Interesting quote given the off court issues we've had.

If he shot up the mocks 2 weeks ago instead of today and it was reported the Spurs wanted him everyone would be popping champagne

Perhaps to some, but what other teams want means nothing to me. I'm sure a couple other teams also thought Kirk Haston was worth a first-round pick in 2001, but that didn't take any sting (pun intended) away.

We've dealt with Haston, May, Morrison, Ajinca, Biyombo, MKG, Vonleh, PJ, Frank, Bouk and Kai Jones in the last 25 years (and I'm being nice leaving out a bunch of other middling, mediocre choices). One more obscure answer to a trivia question is by no means unbearable.

I, for one, welcome our new French overlord.

I am bummed that we had to take him at 6. Yes he’s a reach, and I actually like his potential in theory. But he’s so far away from impacting…if he does. I am most troubled by a few things; his lack of bounce, poor finishing, not a great handle. His shooting shows promise but needs a lot of refinement.

Someone I was watching asked if this smacked of Jeff Peterson getting too “cute”, in effect, trying to reach for a sleeper home run in his first draft with us. I see some of that in his comments. Clifford reportedly loves him, but that really doesn’t warm my heart. In a draft of many unknowns, I would have taken Clingan and kept him or traded back with Memphis to grab either Devin Carter or Cody Williams (CLT didn’t want Knecht). But that’s me. I want a faster payoff with this Hornets team. Fans are sick and tired of the constant rebuild, failure, rinse and repeat. Peterson and Lee are just getting started, so no sweat under their arms…just be happy.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Jeff Peterson ruined any goodwill he had with this fanbase here. Basically, everything we see from him will be viewed through this vantage point from here on out. An incredibly cocky pick, to believe that the new staff can turn this absolute mess of a basketball player into a real NBA contributor.

I'm not even angry as it might work out. But he is so so so far away.

Max vert 33 inches. Not to nit pick but just going through everything I can find. I hope I eat 1000 crows, but I highly doubt it. Forget an F grade he's g or h. No skill with all his size is atrocious at layups. Wtf did we actually do here?

Whether you loved Salaun or not, I think saying we took him as a massive reach isn't the truth.

He was 7th in KOC final mock draft, 8th in Espn final mock draft, 7th on Yahoo sports big board.

Literally the Spurs traded out of the draft completely after we took Salaun, expect that to be a story in the coming days. I think there is a good chance we decided against the Clingan trade down with Memphis because we thought Spurs would have taken Salaun.

He checks a lot of boxes for me
- Great size
- Super young
- Defensive tools
- Shooting Appeal

I think he is a project, but there is nothing about him as a player that I think is a massive turnoff. He is just really young and hasn't developed fully compared to older guys like Carter, Knecht, Edey,

Yall are dramatic. We will see how he plays. Middling draft so not sure what was expected.

Nobody here's watched him play enough to cry this much.

This is unfair. You can't judge this move until you see the results. For all we know this kid might develop into a star down the line. He's 19 with potential to grow into his already decent pro body. The shot looks solid. He's obviously raw, but this draft simply had no stars in it.

Who can you 100% say is going to be a star in this draft?

So we wait 4 years to see when he's 22 and putting up 12 and 7 a game and sign him to 30 mil a year or more when the cap goes up.

Reed Sheppard 955 total minutes - 23 blks

Salaun 748 minutes - 8 blks

You can't teach BBIQ. This dude is trash. If you don't know now you will know after summer league.
