Was this a Horst or a Doc pick?

Vecenie had him 32, not that it matters at all.

he's the guy who had insider info

did he have him at 32 a week or two ago?

or only after he knew horst had fallen in love?

I found a mock from 3 months ago and he did not have him top 32

btw I meant big board not mock draft

His draft guide was published 5 days ago and Johnson was 32 on his personal board.

Could he be the first 1st rounder to sign a 2 way contract? Ridiculous to spend the 1st round slot of $3.2 million on him to play for the Herd.

Oh, sorry. "We gotta trade back, Givony has him going later."

Better?

Bonny has a near-zero chance of playing a meaningful NBA minute.

This guy at least has a chance.

yeah take the "maybe we can sign his daddy" angle out of it and he is at least clearly a better prospect than bronny

I like his change of speed in the combine - he’s constantly doing it, too. Between that, and some of the simple passes to the roller, that bodes decently well for his offensive feel.

Shifty dudes who can pass are really hard players to acquire if they become fully fledged nba players.

I also like that midrange pull-up, too.

Those teams all also had mid or late 2nd round picks. Nobody was taking this project.

And trades never happen.

I'm saying the teams that worked him out did so to consider him with their later pick.

I'm not a draft savvy person, but if this guy is a real rocks or diamonds pick then I'm all for it. This late in the draft is such a crap shoot that might as well take a swing.

You absolutely do not know that. The person who would have some insight and does have inside information, moved him up to #23 because the Bucks didn't think he'd be there at #33.

1) couldn't earn minutes on a bad NBL team

2) 99% won't help us significantly this year and at least 90% next year

3) at least a 50% chance he is still there at 33 even if you want to be as charitable as possible (I would say 90%)

4) there were some players I thought that had a semi-realistic chance of helping us win games (or at least eat minutes) next year still on the board (and now most of them are gone with 31 and 32 still to come)

I like his archetype, combine performance and theoretical upside, but it is a SH*T pick when given context

Yahoo's Krysten Peek:

Grade: B+
Johnson's upside as a 6-foot-5 combo guard is very intriguing and he's a player who has been in the gym working out with Rockets guard Jalen Green since 8th grade. They have similar mannerisms as playmakers, and Johnson is still so raw as prospect but could end up being one of the best players in this draft two to three years down the road.

I probably dislike Marquette more than anyone here, and at the same time I think I might be the only one here that would be just fine with Oso at 33.

Not Kolek though.

You see all the stuff his workout partner Jalen Green does. He's just more raw than Green was coming out, and it's taken Green years to become tollerable. Green does look pretty exciting going forward.
