The young players who should have gotten minutes last year were Minott and Miller. They both had real potential to appear in the rotation in the 24-25 season and it is nice to give them a taste of NBA quality opponents, especially defensively. Nowell was also someone who could have been featured more in the early seasons, but to be fair he collapsed in his final season with the Wolves. I honestly was not referring to him in the above post.

Side note, I have no idea about the Wolves long term plans for Garza, but if they had any, I would have liked to see him find some minutes as well. Again, I don’t think it is top paragraph worthy because I don’t see him on the team this year. I don’t think Finch or TC find him worthy of a roster spot, but if they knew he would be back, he belongs in that category of give him some taste of the game before he is forced into it at the end of season.

I don't see how we could have given Minot or Miller any minutes. Kat missed some time, and it just allowed for an increased role for Naz and Slomo. We were lucky we didn't have too many injuries last season.

Gonna break it down into 3 general situations.

1. During multiple blow outs Finch played the starters more minutes than necessary. Bringing in the development guys even if you don’t necessarily leave them in for the remainder of the game (sub them in and out if they need a break,) reduces stress on the starters and gives them so minutes against NBA level competition.

2. More rest games for the starters especially against bad completion. Having Ant skip a game against the Wizards or Spurs or equivalent team especially in the lead up to the crazy part of the schedule. With Ant down for a game you get NAW starting and Minott backing him up. Or if you don’t like that example, rest Mike a couple more games, have Monte or JMAC or NAW (depending on the part of the season,) fill in, and back fill some minutes for Minott. You can come up with whatever examples you want and they are probably gonna be viable. I am not saying Minott should be a 20 minute per night guy. But a couple games of 20+ minutes could have gone a long way.

3. Kyle was terrible during parts of the season. Miller getting a slice of minutes instead of Kyle, or even Minott when Kyle was at the 3 would have been preferable. Kyle did eventually sort of get it together, and had some useful contributions late, but we don’t know what Miller or Minott would have been able to bring to the table because Finch stuck with Kyle even when Kyle was clearly toxic.

Finch doesn’t like going away from set rotations, and I don’t see him willingly giving a rotation spot to a rookie when he has vet options he trusts.

Two questions:

1) someone wanted Tray Young, Rob has almost identical draft measurements. I wanted Darius Garland, and to me Rob is very similar to both these guys. At some degree TC fulfilled Rosas dream. Does it makes sense?

2) also I wanted someone who can play high paced, 0.5 second offense with bench unit, especially with Naz who is epitome of playing fast, aggressive. But last two year MIN failed to established any offensive rhythm with bench unit. In other words, can Rob find find to create an offensive duo with Reid/Towns the way it elevates whole bench unit?

P.S. Absolutely love this pick!

Interesting move. Can't comment on him, but I like what the FO did.

If I'm understanding this accurately San Antonio drafted Dillingham. He is not a Wolves draft pick. Do I got it right?

We all know a ton of Kentucky players have excelled in the NBA (and yes I know he could end up being a Tyty Washington or Tyler Ulis)

I'm very excited. Elite ball handler with speed that kills, when's the last time we had that? Not to mention he shot 44% from 3.

Can't believe we got the guy I wanted the most in this draft

I hope you're right about him.

He is very small, but also very skilled. I sure hope he works out.

Wolves21 wrote:Don't know much about his game but love the swing moving up into the top ten to land a possible long term starting PG. Also some of the comps to his game are Lou Williams. I know some fans might hate that but if he could turn out to be a similar player that would be fine with me as Sweet Lou was a bucket getter off the bench and multiple time 6th man of the year.

Edwards,Dillingham,Reid,McDaniels,NAW...ect bunch of young guns on the squad.

If he's Lou Williams I'm good with that.

Shocking move. Positive suprise.

My guy moves like Tyrese Maxey. Hope he turns out to be even a fraction of him.

Tim has been here 3 years and he's made a draft night trade every year.

Whether or not I agree with all the picks this FO deserves so much credit for being aggressive in going after who they want.

Loaf_of_bread wrote:This is something else. Got to commend TC for creativity of offering this deal to the spurs. 2030, 31?? Come on now.. so far out, that if our scouting dept wanted this guy, it is a steal.

What a move. Is there any trade in nba draft history for a pick that far out in the future?? Thinking the spurs gm and team didn't have a plan with that pick and were determined to trade it no matter what. Freaking Connelly just cannot contain himself when presented with the chance to flex.

It's one of the most bizarre trades I've ever seen. A FRP 7 years from now and a pick swap 6 years from now for the 8 pick this year. :o

A day or two ago, I thought he was Minnesota Jeff Teague. Now I think he might be Minnesota Stephon Marbury!

This year I don’t expect him to be Minnesota’s anything. I expect him to be Iowa’s starting PG and nothing more. I expect him to spend time with Mike and Finch during practices and I think his rotation debut is 25-26 or even 26-27 depending on Mike Conley and Monte Morris/JMAC. Either way, his long term value is exciting and could open some very interesting doors for us.

You probably think McCarthy should redshirt for the Vikings this year. I hope and expect you will be proven very wrong about Dillingham. I expect him to be getting 20 or more MPG this season.

Thanks Klomp. I expect W4L will come to his senses about this pretty soon. Teams trading up for top 10 don't do it to sit them for a year or more.

Technically, yes. Although teams tend to have an agreement of who to pick prior to I believe.
