Sharpe has a higher ceiling than Claxton so no

Yeah idk about all that.

Sharpe is younger so we know less about what he can become.

Claxton has earned more minutes so far with his defense.

Unless Claxton improves his offense it will be difficult to succeed while he shares the floor with Ben Simmons.

As long as it’s front loaded, I like it. Even if you keep Claxton long term.

2026 offseason, you are probably wanting to be the team to sign one/two of Luka, JJJ, Fox, Joel, Rudy, KP, Trae, etc.. I don’t know who will actually see free agency or how much Brooklyn will have. But having a bargain Claxton as either the starting center or an asset matching salary after signing that star.. seems to be what will become the Nets plan over the next 24 months given they only have two years to tank?

If they didn’t front load it, they paid market value and got nothing out of it. Will like it a lot less.

Simmons won’t be considered in any of Brooklyn’s long term plans.

Ideally the poor fit will lead to more lost games this season.

I mean Ben will only be 30 when Brooklyn tries to win again.. Maybe it’s worth paying him just in case.

4yr70 with max performance incentives and only the first year guaranteed? Even if he’s hurt again next year.. if he’s healthy this year, you probably have traded him and taken on some negative salary..

I think this is an overpay but Claxton is a good enough and young enough it makes sense to pay him to stay as they go through their rebuild. He is a legit starting quality center.
