I give the pick a C because at least we took a swing rather than settling for a super meh guy like Knecht.
Knecht’s ceiling is higher than Hervé Haston’s, but he wasn’t someone I wanted, either. Knecht was not a good fit here.
I’d like to not get out-rebounded 54-29 every spring, and a center was right there for the taking, but we Hornets’d it up.
The way I see it, Salaun averages 0.4ppg/0.6rpg in 16 NBA games and 30ish minutes, or if he overachieves it’s something like 1.1ppg/1.4rpg in 33 games and 50ish minutes. There’s no way this guy sees the court for more than 100 minutes this season unless Lee is forced to do so, because he’s four years from having an NBA body and potentially even longer away from having an NBA skill.
The scouting report just reads like a guy I could talk myself into at 42. Not 6. But the Boy King loves him, and we gotta root for him to overachieve, don’t we?
