That's a overpay.

I was spitballing some pretty aggressive packages to get him to CLT because I'd love a starting lineup of Melo - Miller - Bridges - Bridges - Mark, but I was stopping way, way short of what NYK offered.

He's the most overrated target in the NBA. So glad it wasn't us that sold the farm for Bridges

In hindsight, I can't blame teams like Minny and New York for going so all in. The league is pretty open. Sure Denver and Boston are good but they don't feel unbeatable like the Warriors from a few years ago and Miami before them.

I get why our fanbase wants to go all in as well, but we aren't really in a great position to do so.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

Looking at how the draft went down there are obviously going to be a lot of players in the trade market.

Robert Williams, Lu Dort, Kevin Huerter, Davion Mitchell, Cam Johnson, Finney-Smith, Bruce Brown, Pat Williams, DeAndre Hunter, Jeremy Clarkson, etc. are probably all available. A lot of guys known for their defense.

Hunter, Williams, Johnson top my wish list now after getting a grade level of Z - in the draft.

I'm curious to see how Edey goes at Memphis, perfect place for him next to JJJ

I liked that pick. To me it was the guy to get If they really wanted clingan. I rate that pick as high as an B+. He's gonna work I feel. Especially for Memphis.

To Knicks could have gotten furphy and filipowski..spl? Back to back to fill depth in case they shop randel and didn't make those picks. 1 of them could hit to be a solid role piece. They could of had both. Wiz did decent I think. Minny getting dillingham makes a bunch of sense and was sneaky good for them. Knecht on the Lakers I also liked. Ware with Bam in Miami looked good as well with their culture and improvement he made this year.

I think Knicks are still doing financial gymnastics to fit the team under the 2nd apron. so I think they took on 0 dollars in the first round if they stash Dadiet overseas.

How would folks have felt if we gave up an asset to trade back into the lotto to take Topic? When we took Salaun I was wondering if we might take that approach and soft tank 2024.

Do you mean acquire an asset and trade back? I would've been pretty happy with pick(s) and a redshirt Topic.

Nah, was thinking take Salaun then get back into the draft with a different asset and take Topic. The idea being we know Salaun needs time and Topic needs to recover from injury, so let's use 2024-25 as a developmental and health recovery year and get a high pick in 2025, then roll in to 2025-26 with health and depth.

Ah. Hmmm. That's more of a thinker.

EDIT: Assuming planets aligned - OKC was OK with trading out #12 for one of our future MIA/DAL firsts (possibly along with this years #42), I think I'd be pretty good with it. Topic, when healthy, is a top 5 pick in most drafts. Having him and a high upside guy like Salaun developing in the shadows while we eye the '25 draft would be a luxury.

I would've taken that gamble in a vacuum, but no telling if the opportunity was even on the table nor what the cost would've been.

100% best-case retrospective GM'ing on my part.

AJ Griffin to HOU for #44. Hope he can turn it around but that hope is low.

Okoro? 23 years old. A 3 pt shot that may or may not have improved. Elite POA defender. Wantable? Gettable? Cavs seem torn on his future.
