Ayton fits the timeline on the Bulls

Blazers get 3rd team stuff
Blazers give Ayton
Blazers have no need for Ayton with Clingan and RW3 now

3rd team get LaVine
3rd team give stuff
A team wants to take on LaVine at low value

I assume any package includes at least some salary relief. I don't think any team wants to pay Ayton more than the MLE and some won't want to do that. He is incredibly inconsistent, whether it is low motor, low passion, physical issues, etc. I don't know, but he's really bad and the contract is also putrid.

I'll just throw Washington out there with Poole because that's the only similarly bad contract that makes sense here.

Eliminate the BULLS

Sarr for me is mostly a 4 in the JJJ mold...so I still need a 5 and on the other hand Ayton fits me next to T. Young also giving the HAWKS more size..

Ayton+Murray(Blazers)to HAWKS
Saving a few million get a better fit and a prospect

Capela to WIZARDS
they get a better player

Holmes to BLAZERS
I save a ton and open a place

Hunter to PISTONS
get a "free" wing holder

Part of the problem the Spurs had last year was lesser players forcing the issue/taking questionable shots that should have been timely passes to Wemby. LaVine isn't the answer to that.

I'll say the Bulls would take another $6M or so to make this happen

It's nearly impossible to do anything with PORT until they decide which team they want to put on the floor.

Ayton, Grant, Simons, Williams, Thybulle

or

Scoot, Murray, Sharpe, Avdija, Clingan

move the vets for future picks and bench guys, and take your lumps for a year playing the young group and hope they gel as a unit. Pick a lane

Agree accept for having Murray as anything but a 11-15 bench guy, he was bad last year. If we go full rebuild the starters would be Scoot/Sharpe/Deni/Camara/Clingon

I’d still like to keep Ayton for half a season at least to make sure Clingan translates, unless somebody is giving real assets for him.

I'd agree with Myth's idea of keeping Ayton in the short term but Portland has an interesting
developmental roster with Grant, Avdija and Camara up front with Ayton and Clingon to play
center with Scoot, Sharpe and Simons in their BC.

How they add to that roster remains to be seen but the team is now under the tax line and has
more options to improve their roster. Biggest question mark remains how good the Scoot/Sharpe
BC will be

After the Deni trade the Blazers don't really need space. Ayton is on a negative contract, but Ayton + Murray is worth more than Holmes, and more space, IMO.

As others have mentioned, it's unclear what Clingan will look like in a high minutes role. So having him backup Ayton to see what he looks like/get him acclimated to the NBA seems like a smart choice for Portland.

Bulls In - Ayton and Thybulle

Blazers - Ayton and Thybulle
Blazers In - Vuc and Lonzo

Blazers free us some cap space in a year and Vuc is a solid Big veteran to assist Clingan

Bulls take a punt on Ayton whilst they blow it up and Thybulle can help defensively
