We will go after him for sure but that strategy won’t be like the Mavs because Knicks have other guys who can make shots. They now have multiple guys who can get buckets.

I’m not saying anything as far as who wins, I’m a Celtics. I’m simply saying, Mav’s “others” made what we did work, Knicks should have less of that problem. We’ll handle them differently.

Yeah that Knicks matchup will be very difficult. Might even be a coinflip. They'll have the advantage with rebounding and we'll have the advantage with 5 out shooting.

It would be painful if Randle switching onto Zingis or Tatum himself can actually score on them with his bully ball approach. I haven't had to consider him as a real player for awhile but reading the general board have just be reminded he's made all nba teams and is a legit #2 option.

Randle cannot, cannot, cannot defend tatum

Mitchell gets run off the court against celtics by kp and al dragging him out to 3pt line.

Our defense is superior
Our scoring is vastly superior.

Hmm, good point. Again it's been awhile since I've had to consider Randle as a real player and his value.

If he's someone we can expose on switches and start our penetration to attack what looks on paper to be an amazing Thibs lead defense for the Knicks then that lessens my concern about the matchup a lot.

Denver can't afford to lose KCP imo. Not without replacing him.

If they lose him for nothing their rookies don't bring enough 3 and D in their lineup to make up for it and it hurts them.

Yeah maybe resigning Luke is the best we can hope for.

The Thunder and 76ers will have 30 mil in cap space. So contenders with real money and holes to fill on their roster and can throw guys with a heartbeat like Wiseman a couple mil over the vet min to fill out their ranks.

And if I'm not mistaken there wasn't even a post trade deadline buyout market last year that we were able to take advantage of.

I was really hoping there would be a ton of options at Center and we'd be able to upgrade there, we're unlikely to avoid ALL the big men in the next playoff run and have to deal with Greek Freak, Embiid, Jokic, Minny siutation at least one of them that someone who can hold their own in the post would be very helpful to have.

Andre Drummond says hello (again). I'd prefer Wiseman, but someone will offer Wiseman more than the minimum.

I’d rather watch Yabusele back in green than ever want Andre Drummond

I'd be very happy with Drummond but I assume he'd get more than the vet min. But he could come here to ring chase.

He'd be someone we could use to wall up against Giannis. And fight against Embiid and Jokic in the post in a way that neither Zingis nor Horford have the strength to do.

I think he'd be a homerun addition.

I'm not sure we have a set role for Gordon as Pritchard kinda has that microwave small guard role.

Plumlee could be alright. He might settle for the min that we can offer.

Drummond couldn't defend Giannis, Embiid or Jokic, but he could hurt one of them. If Rick Mahorn wanted to come out of retirement, he'd be on my short list.

Tatum needs protection. If Wendell Ladner were alive, he'd be on my short list too.

Bring back Bol Bol for the minimum. Rim protection and can hit 3s.

Seems pretty straightforward from here.
Including Baybay we have 11 guys under contract.
Sign Tillman. Sign Davison to minimum. Consider Kornet and/or a vet minim ring chaser. Watson on a two way. Find a couple UDFAs for the other 2 way spots.

Somehow the scenario was trade Hauser and get Marcus back because you can find shooting anywhere but you can't find players who make winning plays and play with heart and soul. Just odd

Did any of the callers go by the name of Cave?

Shak_Celts wrote:Let Baylor play before we talk about him making someone more expendable. He could be terrible or he could be great, that has nothing to do with Sam atm. Poor Sam has a foot out the door with most of the media and fans already. Sam isn’t easily replaceable, otherwise everyone wouldn’t think he’d have a chance to be out of our price range.

Do I hope he is as good as Sam (better)? yes, but that is only because it would make him an excellent piece for the team! If Celts would spend that money I would love even more having “two Sams!”

Wyc nem, break the bank even more, we want MULTIPLE CHIPS! Pay all the people you legally can! If it’s just about the money, PAY IT BABY!! A championship is worth more than the money (you recoup anyway)!!!

Yep, need to see him play first. Baylor seems like a better all around player than Hauser, but let's see what he does versus NBA competition.

Reminder:

June 30: Each NBA team may begin negotiating with all other upcoming free agents (beginning at 6 p.m. ET).

Let the competition for NBA vet min contracts begin :D

No thanks.

He's been on like 6 teams in 5 years now..for a reason..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

So, is the general opinion that Tillman is looking at a minimum level contract or notably higher than that? Because Brad danced around a question about the offseason and ability to add or resign players and mumbled about being able to sign vet minimum level players.
