Why?
The one time in his life he's getting drafted into the NBA, here his name called, walk across the stage and shake the commissioner's hand. This is akin to walking at graduation to receive your diploma.
Sounds more like there is uncertainty with his draft position and he's still falling within a larger range than his team is comfortable with.
But I get it, no one wants to be unexpectedly left it the green room too long.

Nah.

This dude is a legend at Purdue. It'll be the party of his life with hundreds of his favorite people.

If there was a chance he'd slide, I imagine he'd just do a small get together at his home. Not the thousands of folks expected to fill the Purdue University Basketball Arena.

This is what I'd expect from a guy who spent 4+ years at the same University instead of jumping form college to college every few months.

Nope. You can party ANYTIME. You can't get back the experience of walking the stage, donning your team cap and shaking the commish's hand.
His favorite people should want that experience for him.

:dontknow:

Personally, I'd much rather have the party of my life capped off by the biggest moment of my professional career surrounded by loved ones as opposed to strangers and media.

Why choose 8 guests at a table, when you can literally have hundreds in an arena instead?

My prediction: he goes in the 1st round and when they do a remote broadcast live from Purdue -- Zach will be in the midst of a massive celebration before he heads off into the sunset. Bigger than anything the kids at the draft will have going.

Would Sarr and Edey work well together?

Maybe the Hawks can find a Cap and Hunter trade to get another draft pick...

C Edey
PF Sarr
SF Jalen
SG DM
PG Trae

I think Edey can only survive in the NBA if he plays along side an elite defensive PF.

Defensively, that could be really dominant for stretches. Especially against teams that like to attack the basket/midrange.

But offensively, the spacing would suffer behind three front court players with questionable 3-pt shooting. Not a terrible collection of players to have, though.

Do you think Okongwu becomes expendable if both Sarr and Edey were brought aboard?

ZE actually has a good shooting form and he shoots over 70% from the free throw line. I think he can develop a decent 3pt shot.

Okongwu is already expendable. I have already given up on OO because of his injuries. I don't think he will ever be dependable in the future to be a starter and play +70 games and playoffs. He just gets worn down as the year goes on.

I'm all for making a draft day trade with Cap, Hunter, OO, DM, Bogy for draft pick(s) and getting ZE in the mid first round.

I expect him to have a successful NBA career. He supposedly proved he can make three pointers constantly.
