I don't think many people care about the 2nd round away but it helps with trades, two-way contracts, etc. I think it's for front offices and not TV coverage.

it's supposedly at least partially because the front offices hated doing everything in one day and wanted more time to navigate the second round. definitely doesn't make for good tv, though.

Mostly NBA wanted the 2 day draft coverage. But also know no one cares about round 2. Not even ESPN would waste prime time hours on this.

Yeah, Bob Meyers was just remarking on how now they get 4 minutes per round, while they got 2 minutes when it was all in one night, which he said made it very hard to work the phones/get things done.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

What did Woj have to say about Markkanen? Any new info?

Filipowski is a good pick for them in round two, but I wonder...are they going to tank again next year? If so, I could see players like Markkanen and Sexton not being very happy about it.

What's wrong with Tyler Smith?

I don't know much about AJ Johnson.

He basically said they were actively shopping Lauri as he's the biggest trade chip and trying to "steer the ship in the right direction" so my take on that was "looking to trade Lauri to rebuild" which isn't necessarily big news

I may be getting over my ski's here, but at some point do we start to ask if Ol Silver is capable for growing this league/sport as his predecessor did? It feels to me that the appeal of the league and the signature events and specifically for this post, the draft, have taken a noticeable step backwards in terms of social participation. At a distinct loss to the NFL specifically. I remember, not that long ago, when the NBA draft felt like the best and most must see draft in the game. But now the NBA draft feels closer to WNBA or MLB or NHL than it does the NFL draft, which is easily in a many leagues above the aforementioned rest.

They have ruined the 2nd round of the draft. Probably had some genius have a look at the tv ratings and thought they could make some extra money this way. I have tuned off.. gave me flashbacks to the Covid draft.

Lot of trade activity in the 2nd round…wish we couldve gotten involved by trading the POR pick and/or Dalen. No one of interest still on the board for me now except for Adem Bona

I know he had a bad season, but I'm surprised that he went for so little. I think he still has potential.

I don't mind the Smith pick since it was in the second round but AJ Johnson is a project who is years away from being in an NBA rotation. Wasting a FRP on a player who probably won't contribute while on his rookie contract instead of someone with a more realistic path to being in the rotation in 1-2 years.

one thing detracting from the enjoyment of watching this is I have no idea where these players are actually going. It seems the team listed as drafting is rarely the actual team drafting and it's just hard to follow while also trying to work.
