Can't imagine it's first round pick swap rights...

And if it's second round pick swap rights in 2030 and beyond, I'm making a stank face. Our front office is actually trash and just got lucky hitting on a few picks.

Don't forget we're losing a pick right here, so it's a net loss of picks. Just so we can swap in 6 years after Paolo may already have bailed on us, so it's just as likely to me completely useless as it is to be useful. In the grand scheme of things this probably won't matter at all, but what it symbolizes is awful, just awful.

Why are we so picky about the second round?

Do we at least pick later in this draft?

Nah, future 2nd round pick swaps 6 and 7 years from now.

Better than cash.

With inflation and all... we got 2 future cash considerarions rather than one.

is it? decent chance those never become a pick. for a team that needs shooters, we just gave him away.

not a fan of this move. if nothing else, trade it for another pick, not a swap that might not happen

Not bad although Antonio Reeves was on my board. Normally, you can't get a future 2nd for #47. The Magic managed to get 2nd round pick swaps 6 and 7 years from now. Makes those 2nds more valuable. I like it.

I would have just taken Reeves but it is what it is.

Those 2nds in 30 and 31 will be more valuable.

That's fine, it truly is better than cash. You could get some marginal improvement in draft position, which is something compared to nothing.

I still would have taken Bronny.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

We can't have it both ways though.

We aren't finding time for #6 and #11 picks, and we want to stock up on 2nd rounders? Didn't we deem the G-League as useless?

Where are they playing? If our way forward is through better picks hitting or FA/trades, not sure where guys who barely pan out have a real shot of PT here.

If they are willing to park a lottery pick in the g league for a year.. why not do the same with a second rounder? Make it make sense haha

thats the thing, we dont know if they will be valuable or not. Why not take a great shooter and see where the chips fall? we were one of the worse 3 pt shooting teams and he was 39%, 40% and 45% from 3 the last 3 years. but no, we muddle through and hope another team is bad 6 and 7 years from now.

Keep in mind, The Magic had some decent Two-Way Players on their Roster last season.

If it was for cash, I'd totally be against.

Pick swaps from a franchise that could be in flux soon isn't horrible. But when the player that's taken is called perhaps "the best shooter" in the draft and you need shooting....I just don't understand why Weltman doesn't value the second round. I get a decent portion of second rounders are out of the league in a few years, but there are also gems every year too. Your scouts should be able to find the occasional gem.
