6 to 7 years? cmon Howard. i know you try and keep it nice, but cmon.

Better than cash.

Keep in mind, The Magic had some decent Two-Way Players on their Roster last season.

If it was for cash, I'd totally be against.

at least cash would be tangible. these may not convey at all.

Honestly watching this team manage the second round over the last 5 years has been a complete joke. We literally in 5 years have only Caleb houston because of their incompetence. super gross

Magic#1 wrote:Pick swaps from a franchise that could be in flux soon isn't horrible. But when the player that's taken is called perhaps "the best shooter" in the draft and you need shooting....I just don't understand why Weltman doesn't value the second round. I get a decent portion of second rounders are out of the league in a few years, but there are also gems every year too. Your scouts should be able to find the occasional gem.

the rate we pick them up, you could find at least a couple of serviceable players, even if they are only around for a couple of years. but nope.

No real surprise here. Just how the FO operates. I personally dont get it but whatever. A 2nd rounder probably isn't moving the needle but I'd rather keep Reeves and see what he can do in the G league then trade it . But what evs

As far as I know, we always got a future 2nd round pick along with cash.

It's kind of like setting a lottery ticket on fire, and a quite favorable lottery ticket at that. Sure, it probably won't make much of a difference, but you rob yourself of the opportunity to gain something potentially great (Jokic was a second rounder after all) for next to nothing. Surely there's no other team that does this as consistently as we do, and there's a reason for that. Because it's idiotic.

It's not so much about not getting player x or y for me, it's about the principle.

Oh my God. This liquid diarrhea that this ESPN panel is spewing right now is a new level of shameless.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Anyway just watching to see if one of the Dutch prospects get drafted. Whatever.

On that note, just what I'm hearing now is more Bronny talk "I don't want to hear about nepotism, the NBA is full of nepotism"... okay, so that makes nepotism all fine and dandy, you efing stooge?

Absolutely blowing Lebron. Bronny would go undrafted if he wasn’t Lebrons kid. Dude is the definition of overated

Read on Twitter

is it? decent chance those never become a pick. for a team that needs shooters, we just gave him away.

not a fan of this move. if nothing else, trade it for another pick, not a swap that might not happen

I would have just taken Reeves but it is what it is.

Those 2nds in 30 and 31 will be more valuable.

Exactly.

That could be us moving. From the 50s to the 30s in those year. Especially if you're assuming you're going to be at your best by then.... And maybe they are not.

Eh... we probably sign a lot of undrafted guys for our SL team and put them in our GL team.

Someone has to replace the Admiral after all

completely agree.

recent 2nd rounders, think we can agree they would improve the overall talent of the team

Ayo
Herb Jones
GG Jackson
Nembhard
Miles McBride
Aaron Wiggins
Isaih Joe

are they stars? no. but they can be legit role players. But lets keep overpaying for vets like Ingles and Harris

Now I am hearing that the meta with the new CBA is that second round picks are extremely valuable when you're in contention and around first and second apron territory. And if you look at the timing of these pick swaps, that's right when we'll be in our prime. So maybe Weltman is just playing to the new meta.
