Dudes got legit shooting skills all the way out to three in motion, off the dribble or at a stand still catch. hitting pick and pops off screens looks as easy to him as walking and he's got a good feel for when he should and shouldn't be shooting. He's a better passer than advertised and though he is not good finishing at the rim it's mostly because he needs to put on weight not because he can't get there. His handles are more than solid enough to attack closeouts it's just that at this point he can only attack to the mid range if there's any real defender down low. As far as playmaking that's gonna be an uphill battle, but certainly not impossible.
Defensively he needs strength, lots of it. He's definitely a good enough athlete to be a good defender and his brother, who had the same concerns coming out of college, put on weight pretty easily and became a plus defender... It's just that Max can't shoot. But Cam can.
So that makes for a pretty decent 3 and D prospect at 46.
Nice summary
Yeah I like the pick - this team does need wing depth on the bench thats younger and can shoot or at least has the potential to be a shooter with some size, and right now that just isn't there for the next year in outlook to emerge.
Also in the shorter-term, is going to help push Jordan Miller, Brandon Boston, and maybe Primo if he's back.
Then you have Trentyn Flowers coming in as another wing.
Who knows, maybe someone is a diamond in the rough and becomes a fixture in the rotation. If there's any season its going to start with the younger players, it has to be this one.
