Topic at #12 made sense. You take someone that was at one time considered the top prospect and dropped way to far over an ACL, which is an easy surgery/recovery. I view it as similar to Denver taking Michael Porter Jr. when he fell to them after getting hurt in college. Topic's injury is much less severe and unlikely to be a long-term issue. I don't like the negative wingspan, but he's going to be a very good NBA player and I'm going to stand by my commits before the wingspan became an issue that he ends up the best player out of this draft.
The Dillon Jones trade I didn't like. He's Giddey lite. He was the primary ball handler in college and OKC doesn't need someone to take the ball out of the hands of SGA, JDub, Chet, etc. He drives hard to the basket and plays hard defense. He racks up steals, 2 a game and the all-time leader at Weber State. He did pull down 9.8 rebounds a game. He's not a good 3pt shooter, 32% for his college career, although his FT% implies he might be able to improve there. He's not a young prospect, he's 22 already. He's one of the old school Presti picks where grabs a defensive guy who is going to struggle to find a role in the offense. I'm having Andre Roberson flashbacks with this one, although Jones shouldn't be completely incompetent as a shooter. Filipowski, Tyler Smith and others were there that could have come in and filled the need for a backup big that can stretch the floor and rebound. There was a better version of the same player sitting on the board named Enrique Freeman.
Ajay Mitchell was confusing as they could have gone for a better fit in Enrique Freeman or high upside in Ulrch Comche and instead went with another PG that shoots when they are now loaded with shooters. I get the fit with Mitchell, but Freeman would have fit perfectly with their 5-man out style as a big time rebounding combo forward that has developed a decent 3pt shot and will continue to improve, has some decent ball skills and basically does everything they could want out of the PF spot.
