Doubt it. They guy is very much the type of player our FO targets and drafts. A few mocks had him going in the 1st, so if they wanted to guarantee him here, the needed to use 19 on him. Also, Bobby said yesterday that there were fights about who to pick at 31 in the room.

I’ve always felt the position you guard defines the position you play

If he can guard nba wings, I’ll call him a wing

Fairies is a poor comparison imo

I've seen his highlights and i really like his athleticism and feel for the game, really good passer. But I've also seen clips of him shooting in workouts, and I don't believe in that shot at all. Hopefully he develops that shot or else he's just going to be another Banton.

A number of people I have spoken to are all in agreement and I think it's been apparent for a while

that Mogbo is essentially a non-broken version of Precious Achiuwa in many regards.

He's Precious with faster processing + passing ability.

Does he rip down defensive boards and attempt to go coast to coast?

If Mogbo actually can shoot we have a versatile wing which is exciting, but I am less excited about a Kenneth Faried type in the modern NBA.
Ya, Bobby referred to him as a wing a couple times during the presser so it sounds like they will try to develop him like Siakam/OG, but he's a lot further behind from a shooting standpoint than those guys, especially OG.

it comes with the higher IQ and passing, he has the confidence to lead a rush in transition

They will try, If it doesn't work out, he probably ends up as an energy big who plays a little as a smallball C or as the big in the dunkers spot next to a shooting big.

He's definitely a cheaper version of Precious. At 31, that's good enough value.

i tried really hard to see some kind of hope for Mogbo being closer to Draymond than Precious and unfortunately I couldn't come close to that conclusion. did see a few people throwing the comp around but it's way too rich for a 22 year old whose skills are at where mogbo's are right now. he doesn't have the shot or defense or craziness in him. but at times he could flash a thing or two to remind us of him.

K well I’m watching him in college and he’s very much used as a big man.

God awful is a little strong, but yeah, anything that's not a dunk or layup is hit and miss. I actually thought the same of Scottie before he was drafted and he's come a long way on touch finishes, so maybe there's hope.

In any case, his processing speed, vision, handle, rebounding and passing should make him useful on offence.

a pretty high number of his ORBS seemed to be on putbacks from his own really bad misses

i watched every single play he was involved in at SF and just a ton of really bad misses, it was shocking that his FG% is so high. but it turns out it's high because he's just a really damn good dunker.

Getting a lot of dunks is a skill, though. Not everyone can put themselves in that position that often.

Raps took this dude over Kolek, Smith, and Filipowski :-?

Just gotta hope they saw something special in the workouts. It's not impossible he's gotten better working with coaches prepping for his role in the NBA.

Absolutely. A lot of them are self created off of drives. He’s shifty for someone his size. Also super impressive that he gets alley-oops off a stand still without much load time.

The touch is a work in progress for sure. I wonder if he struggles with those types of shots cause he's not used to playing in the post given his growth spurt. Hook shots and push shots are skills.

What gives me a little hope is how good his hands are otherwise. In most other cases where bigs show poor touch on those types of shots, their hands are usually terrible (eg Biyombo, Azubuike, etc.). Granted, this is just speculation.

He's a late bloomer. According to Givony, he was listed at 6'0 back in 2018. Now he's 6'7 with +++wingspan. He's still learning how to use his frame.

He went from being point guard to a center in 6 years...that's a lot of change.
