A consultant for the team just told me that there were internal discussions and an attempt made to trade for Donovan Clingan at #6 overall. Didn't happen due to the negotiations falling through but there was a desire and intent to get Clingan.

Who is this “Dean” you mentioned in the other thread? What else did they say, why should we believe them, and why are they leaking this to you? The Raptors are normally tight-lipped.

I'm pretty happy this rumour isn't true/didn't happen.

I've never created a thread before making unfounded claims so if this is the first time it probably means I'm not trying to spread false information for the sake of it and actually have a reputable source sharing a ton of information with me on the Raptors' draft process. He wasn't sitting at the table next to Masai but was kept up to date by the individual he works for in the analytics department. The chance of this being a "broken telephone" situation is next to none as the info came from a member of the analytics team to him to me directly and nobody is trying to spread BS.

Next time say "thank you for sharing this information RBC, I value your contributions to this forum"

The team doesn't allow anyone to leak information prior to or during the draft, which is why my source was not allowed to share anything prior to the draft's end. Post-draft nobody is sworn to secrecy regarding these things. It's just a matter of knowing people who were a part of the process who are willing to share it.

No, you worded it claiming that it definitely is a rumor. Within a 4 minute span back to back to back posts by the 3 most aggressive posters on this forum all trying to delegitimize what I shared with this forum in good faith and you're asking "not sure why you feel like a victim", that's a prime example of gaslighting.

The purpose of this thread was to discuss the information shared and basketball (ie how Clingan would fit/not fit with the Raptors, the FO's decision-making process, etc). If you have a problem with the legitimacy of what I said keep it to yourself or report the post to the mods and I'd be glad to prove to them its legitimacy in private.

Wouldn't be surprised to hear whispers that we wanted to trade up for Edey as well. Ultimately he went at the top of his range, so it was unlikely to happen. I would have been more interested in that given the lower price, despite (begrudgingly) having to admit Clingan is (probably) the better prospect (I guess).

You honestly think the raptors hire consultants that are free to speak publically about internal discussions a day after the draft? You do realize that consulting work involves something called "a contract" yah?
