So just to be clear. It's Ajinca we drafted, right? I had to look it up because of the name, he is a cousin of 2011 Mav Alexis Ajinca (probably the last Mav anyone would guess got a ring because he was traded in January). SAS sounded upset that the Knicks traded him to us because he thought he was a good shooter who was aggressive at looking for his shot and wanted him for the Knicks, not sure if I should be happy or not about SAS's take there

95% chance Ajinca is out of the league in 2 years. Getting picked at 50-something, there's really a high chance you don't last long in the league.

I'm sad Petteri Koponen rights are no longer on the Mavs asset board, such a cool name, such a long tradition, that started mere days after Mavs last title, and ended mere days after a Finals appearance...

Yes i agree but the draft is a strange animal... The history moment can change everything.

We have seen the Dirk era fashion, every tall white guy who can shoots were super hyped (Andrea Bargnani coff coff    ).
I remember the KD time.
Now it's the French connection time.

But every year in the second round (or even in the undrafted) you can find some gems.... Not taking seriuos every draft pick is wrong.

I'm happy to see Nico trade up for a guy.
They made their home work. We need wings.

Melvin is solid, has size/wingspan and he is a streaky 3 point and shooter.
He played in the French pro league last year.
I think he can be NBA ready very quickly, second place with the French U19 in the FIBA world Cup and names in the second all team.

If he will be better than Josh then it's a win for the Mavs.

Almost 0 chance this guy makes the team unless he is a lights out shooter.
Short wing span and only a 31" vertical and no speed or athleticism whatsoever.

Not sure why we traded up for him. Doesnt exactly fit the profile of someone who would excel in Kidd's system.

Omax has wingspan, athletic abilities and was unplayable...Green has solid D(not great), is athletic ,but has low BBIQ...

Ajinca isn't ready, but he could develop into a Nice rotation Player of the bench...wingspan and athletic abilities isn't everything....european school is better for Young Players because they teach you to Play the right way, team basketball

There's a rumor there's mutual interest between the Mavs and KCP , but DEN doesn't want to help Mavs get him, they would rather lose him for nothing

Is it possible KCP sign with someone Else and Mavs make a sign&trade with them??

No. This would basically be Grant Williams scenario. Mavs can throw picks on top but i'm not sure it's worth it. KCP will also demand around 20M which would mean, THJ would have to be involved plus someone else, my best guess is Hardy since salaries would need to match.

The more I watch Ajinca tape the more I like him. Great feet on defense, knows how to turn the hips, also looks like he has a very strong core, definetly an NBA level defender. Also very solid on closeouts. He was solid as a help side defender, makes solid reads on the weakside.

His ofensive game is badicaly his 3 point shot. A funky release, but showed some nice range on a solid volume(for european standards), but he doesn't really need anything else with LuKai

Is his game similar to an Al-Farouq Aminu?

No a sign and trade can only be done by the original team.

Not happy with the Ajinca pick but it’s pick 51 in the worst draft class in 10 years.

He’s a better athlete than how he tested, but he’s still not that great. He’s a 3&D prospect with a negative wingspan who currently doesn’t shoot the 3 that well.

Cam Spencer was the better selection.
