That's why they call you "TheProdigy" because you're right. AA++++++ draft. No doubt. Connelly is King!

I'm not used to front office competence from any MN sports team. I expect idiot moves. Connelly is amazing. It can be done!

BTW, the Vikings killed it this draft and the Wild are on the way up.

There is no hope for the Twins until Pohlad sells.

Minnesota took on a HUGE Luxury-Tax burden by signing Rob Dillingham, there was never any question that they would try to use the second round to shave off some money and recoup those costs. Absolutely zero problem with today's draft strategy.

Nailed it!

For 35 years I've followed an incompetent front office and now we have Connelly. I'm stunned happy.

For who, AD?

Long answer short...yes.

Short answer long...Lakers are in a hell of a spot. A run or 2 with Steph and da James will be interesting. AD was great last year but no guarantees moving forward...especially with cheap bigs showing big effects in the modern NBA.

The second round is starting to feel a lot like the year Kahn kept trading down for cash.

What are we going to do with a pick? We're not going to find a guy who will make the roster. We have to pay him which counts against the cap. Save the cap money. Makes total sense. Celebrate the great Wolves draft. Connelly killed it!!!!

At that point in the draft guys are very likely to end up on a two-way contract, which has no impact on the cap or luxury tax. Adding a developmental two-way player has virtually no downside.

True, but you only get 3 slots and we already had Clark. I don’t know if we want Nix back, but Edwards seemed to be on their radar given the timing of the signing. If non of the players appeal to you at that point, you might as well take the cash and try to poach someone who stands out in Summer League.

So it took a while to get there, but TC basically turned Moore and our 2nd rounder into a future 2nd.

I'm totally OK with that. Especially since we're adding two rookies already.

I'm glad they got a pick. Also, It seems weird that they wouldn't just draft Jesse Edwards at 57, but maybe he was still on the fence with signing a two-way with Minnesota or his agent didn't want Minnesota to draft him because Edwards may have had a better offer elsewhere. That offer fell through and then he accepted the two-way with Minnesota. It's hard to say with only two picks left, but I trust that TC would squeeze out everything he could.

Or option 3. Part of the trade of 57 was a promise not to take Edwards. Then the Wolves FO reasonably decided that Edwards was unlikely to go 58th, (the last spot in the draft.) At that point drafting him or signing him as a UDFA is irrelevant. He gets to the same place either way, and the Wolves ownership gets some cash for 57. If Edwards was the guy TC was going to take but for trading down, then getting paid not to draft him but still signing him is a win-win.

Or maybe they wanted the cash and weren’t overly concerned with Edwards?

So we got a future second from trading down from 37 and a separate future second to trade down to 57?

I think we just got to dump Moore's contract for moving down from 37.

My understanding is no future second in moving down from 37 to 53. Our carrot was just getting off his money.

53 to 57 we got a protected second. When I hear protected, I’m guessing unless it’s in the late 40s or 50s, we get nothing.

Trading 57, we got some money but no pick.

Who said it was protected? The only reference I've seen to the pick was from Jon K and he didn't mention protected.

I didn't hear about protected either. However, it would make sense for the pick to be protected. We will soon find out.

Is that right. We got pick 53 for 37 and Moore is all I've ever heard. We got the protected 2nd for trading 53 for 57.

I was looking at the part where he said Moore and 37 for a future 2nd. I now realize that was a summary of how things ended up.
