What's the shot profile though? From what I've read on Baylor, he played more of an on ball creator role than Hauser did. In the highlights you see more step backs, off the dribble, etc. More mention of his ball handling and playmaking chops. That leads to a tougher shot profile than a movement shooter like Hauser.

I don't think anyone is saying that he's a carbon copy of Hauser. Just that he can potentially fill that rotation slot if we're priced out of keeping Hauser or need to trade him. Some things he could potentially be better and some things he'd be worse.

Which is another concern because we don't necessarily want a guy who's effective shooting step backs and fadeaways, we want a movement shooter.

Ok, so you don't think he can supplant Sam and that's fair. What I want to know is do you think he can steal Jaylen's spot?

I hope so.

BK_2020 wrote:So we are looking at a guy who shot 37.3% from the three in the two Big East seasons as someone who's supposed to make Sam Hauser redundant, doesn't really translate. Sam Hauser shot 43% from the three in 4 seasons in major conferences (3 Big East and 1 ACC). Same number of attempts per game. Sam shot 88% from the line for his college career vs 82% for Scheierman. I don't think they are in the same tier as shooters. Baylor is closer to Drew Peterson than Hauser.

Stats don’t lie but I will say that based on eye test, Sam’s super high arcing shot is more prone to being way off if it’s not a splash whereas Baylor’s perfect arc always seems to be on the mark even when he misses. It’s too much to expect Baylor to be as good as Hauser but to be fair, Hauser was undrafted and Baylor was expected to be a 1st round pick. If the Heat could strike the lottery a second time with Strus, why can’t Brad?
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Where do I start a board petition that this guy isn’t allowed to go by his first name yet.

Bill Simmons was really delighted and chuffed by this selection.

Now I don't know whether that is a good or a bad thing...

You go to the grammar police, because Baylor is way easier for my phone to autocorrect than a last name that’s hard to spell.

If we can put in the work to learn to spell Stiemsma, we can manage the same with Scheierman. And don't get me started on Sichting.

2 names I never spell right without Googling and copy and pasting. Also thank you for not exaggerating and including “Wally Z” on your list.

Whether it's money and a pick or just second round picks I wish we can trade up and target one of the better players.. I still believe there are quite a few really good gems waiting for us in round 2..

If we don't move up, I like Anton Watson at 54, if he is still available.

Brad Stevens, you need to put me on the payroll.

Let's go! Love this pick this late in the 2nd round!

As the child of German immigrants, I don't find "Scheierman" to be all that forbidding.

Further, he's replacing Svi. :)

It’s a walk in the park compared to that guy from last year who I will now pretend never existed.

It seems like Baylor might actually be the perfect player for us right now.

No need to complicate it. His teammates will call him Belo, as he's known on IG.

I luv guys that Rebound. 9 rpg for a 6' 6" wing is better than SUPERIOR.

I haven't seen this kid, but I knew 6' 3.5" Josh Hart would be a very good NBA player just watching him rebound, play defense and make the right plays in college.

This is a really good sign for Scheierman. I normally much prefer eye tests over stats, but a superior rebounder for a wing is always a good sign.
