If Gary is gone, do not be surprised to see Mitchell in the SL. Why? Clear shift to Defence. Mitchell is the point of attack defender we have been missing. IQ is a good off-ball defender. Scottie is best roaming like Giannis. This makes our SL above average defensively.

Other than Barnes those big wings are super underwhelming. I do like what we did in the draft. I'd like one more 3 and D wing if we can get one in FA. Not holding my breath because I know those guys get paid. Is there anyone available in FA who may have some semblance of a 3 and D game or potential to become?

Never thought about Mitchell in starting lineup, as crazy as it sound it works on defense. Mitchell has to hit high clip on 3s to make it work

It's going to take time to replace OG/Siakam. Those type of guys aren't easy to replace and the drop off is very noticeable.

Lots of chat about Bruce. Some people did not enjoy his play last year but I think he can help Def and mentor younger role players.

However, the elephant is Pacers overpaid him. If we wanted to keep him I would ask him to sign 3 year deal. Keeping first at $23M but $11M next two so that would be $45M total or $15M per where he is above MLE and he is a good as both ends of the court.

If he wanted to be with contender sign and trade
Ulrich will be Two-way next 2 years he just needs close to NBA reps and lots of refinement.

I would sign and trade Gary or let him go is we can’t find fit more likely. I still believe we need some bill depth and diversity of play would strongly try to add Jalen Smith. This lets you play Kelly O and Jalen off bench together as a good combo. I might even play Mogbo some of those mins at SF to help with Rebound and Def depth

I think we’re gonna be battling for the Play In this season.

It won't happen, but this is how i would start the game.

Poeltl/Olynyk
Barnes/Brown (or replacement)/Vezenkov
RJ Barrett/Dick
Quickley/Ochai/Walter
Mitchell/Shead

We're going to suck anyway so would explore Mitchell or Ochai in the starting lineup. If Ochai can hit the open 3, that would be huge and make him an obvious player in the starting lineup imo. If he can't we will be stuck with either Mitchell or someone who can't defend starting.

Quickley is better when he's just scoring but Mitchell also isn't starting material. Need to explore Mitchell vs Ochai in the starting lineup imo.

I would keep Dick as a bench player until he really takes off. One concern is his defense but I think he showed he can really fight on that end. Hopefully he gets even stronger.

We might finally have a bench. I won't get ahead of myself as things take time and development. But this is the first time in a while I've felt proud to have Masai as our GM again. Hopefully, he strikes gold again and all or 3-4 become solid rotation players.

Honestly you can't get much worse than Davion. Even without the shooting improvements he needs to bank on to reach an excellent outcome he's still way better than Davion.

Davion is garbage TBH. Just trade fodder who can help tank a bit.

It's amazing to me the language that we choose to dismiss people who are one of the top 50-60 best at what they do in the world. We may not be excited about the ability of that player to move the needle for our team, but is it too much to ask that we offer up a little respect in the way we post about them? This 22-23 year old is miles better at what he does than we are at what we do, he's more disciplined than us, works harder than we could ever imagine working, and has sacrificed more to be where he is than we would be willing to do in our professions. If he's trash, wtf are you?

Davion doesn't belong in the NBA. It's a known fact. He was acquired as an expiring contract and fodder. Could care less if you disagree. You think athletes don't trash talk each other constantly during games? You're like an overprotective father who took his 8 year old son to a game who is getting offended by some fan 10 rows back screaming "you suck LeBron".
