Immanuel Quickley, Raptors Agree To Five-Year, $175M Deal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jun 28, 2024 1:51 pm

Immanuel Quickley and the Toronto Raptors have agreed to a five-year, $175 million deal. The Raptors acquired Quickley in December from the New York Knicks as part of the OG Anunoby trade.

In 30 games with the Raptors, Quickley averaged 15.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 24.0 minutes in a sixth man role.

Quickley is represented by Raymond Brothers.

Hmmm. Not sure how I feel about this one. Good player but a floor general? Winning player? Hes not really the playmaker u want in a point guard.. maybe Masai thinks he’s got more upside.

Of course when players are making 60 mill, that 35 a year might not be as much as it sounds. It's good to be an NBA player.

Makes sense why NYK traded him. He’s worth $25 million per season max.

And I'm a huge fan of rj and quick but couldn't we have paid og with this money? Always going to wish siakim was traded first to see how Scottie and OG went without him. Lowry never hit his stride till Rudy left and he knew he was the man, hoping it proves the same for Scottie and if it does OGs the exact player you'll want around him.

Couldn't be happier for him. As a Knicks fan, I'm happy to see him succeed.

If he was a restricted FA why not let him test the market and match it? What other team would of gave him $175 mIl with cap space?

Yikes! Raptors keep bidding against themselves.

Now they are going to be paying more than $100M to Scottie, RJ, and Quick. 71% of their cap right there to be a borderline play-in team.

Congratulations to IQ though!

Exactly what I was thinking… no team was going to give him more than four years, $120 million. Raptors could’ve matched.

Agreed but not like the Raptors are signing any free agents.

My expectation is that they look to get off Poeltl and Browns salary and then tank for draft picks. Not like Gradey dick is going to demand a big extension.

Sometimes it pays to let a player know that you want them... but probably not in this case.

How did you math that?

2025-26 projected cap is 155M
(2026 season because Barnes has one more year at 10M on his rookie deal before the extension starts)

Barnes 39M + RJ 27.7M + Quickley 25M = 91.7M

That's 59% no?

To quote the article:
"Quickley's salary in 24-25 will likely be just over $30 million and approximately 21 percent of the salary cap."

Barnes has a 30% max coming with a chance to bring it to 35% if he makes all-NBA. But let's assume he doesn't reach that. The first year of a 30% max is $42.3M. Then Quickley's deal starts at "just over $30M" (using the article's numbers). And RJ is at $27.7M as you pointed out. So that comes out to "just over" $100 million out of a $141M cap = 71%.

I'd rather have the 2 pieces that will give you a combined...140 games per season? versus the 60 that OG was going to bring. Also got pretty tired of watching OG fumble the ball twice a game / whenever he tried to dribble more than twice in a possession. As great of a defender as he is, he ultimately proved to be so limited on offense. For a team starved for offense, esp once Siakam was gone, I think the fit would've been horrible.

Leon Rose absolutely fleeced Masai in the trade, and the worst thing is Masai only Now has to do the walk of shame.

Yeah, the numbers they posted are for his 23/24 stint with the Knicks not Raptors.

Knicks are paying more for OG who plays far less often. So enjoy that Leon.

Missed our champ run, missed your playoff run, trust me its a theme. OG stands for Often Gone.
