That’s a weird value. But I guess distant lottery tickets are what they are…

I have this as a lose-lose trade for both teams. Wemby is on the roster now. That pick is a tradeable asset, but it won't be valued as a good one for 5 years?
If the Wolves are going to take out a second mortgage to get a Conley replacement, it's got to be for someone who can stay on the floor in the playoffs.
Long-term picks are trade currency that stay usable for years. There's a number of teams who are going to have to deal with having too many picks and trading them further in to the future is better than drafting a guy, not having any minutes for him, and eventually cutting him so you can add someone who can actually contribute.

Picks 7 years out can be tough to trade. Most GMs don't have that type of job security. Plus, Topic is going to miss his rookie year. They could've drafted him, tanked, and brought him in next summer. The Thunder ended up getting him at No. 12, and before his injury, he was mocked in the top 5.

It felt like it based on the mocks, but we will see

Re: Around The NBA
Sounds like Ingram may realize that a max extension isn't presently out there for him, at least not from a good team. According to Griffin, he told the Pelicans he wants to stay, and based on what Griffin said, he's probably getting traded anyway.
It will be interesting to see how much less than the max he's willing to extend for in order to play with a good team.

Dang, i wish the Cavs coulda stepped in for the Raptors in that Kings trade, what a steal.
Raptors give up a hardly used McDaniels and get back Davion Mitchell, Sasha Vezenkov, and pick #45.

With Lakers drafting Bronny at #55 and signing JJ as head coach, idk if LeBron ever suits up for the Cavs ever again. I was really thinking there may be a 3rd stint at the end of his career.

Maybe just long enough to retire with a Cavs jersey on. Seems he and Rich played their hand perfectly. Too bad the bar was never that low for us when he was on the team.

Let's see if Bronny is an NBA player, what type of contract LBJ signs, and whether the Lakers trade their few remaining assets in another desperate win-now move. I'm happy to have LBJ come back for a farewell season, but I'm not all that envious of the Lakers.

I guess the addition of Davion would somewhat replace Okoro for a year plus we'd get a shot at another pick. Sasha put up some good stats in low leverage minutes, but the Kings and me are probably unsure of what he actually projects to be in the NBA

LeBron has been prioritizing his and his family's happiness since 2014. He may start pushing the Lakers to trade away more future picks if he sees a window of opportunity, but as things stand now - they're not a role-player away from championship contention.
So, presumably some things are just more important to him: like not having to move his family again, playing for a coach he's comfortable with, being able to guide Bronny's career and make sure he's treated well, guiding his media companies, and getting paid scads of money while enjoying the LA lifestyle where he's just another celebrity among celebrities.
As for Bronny, I'd think of his playing career as a launch pad. No matter his level of success as a player, he'll have plenty of opportunities in basketball or out of basketball when he's done.

Yeah, i could see him doing an AI. Coming back for the last couple months of his final season, that way he really wouldn't have to move his family or anything, can run his businesses remote.JonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:With Lakers drafting Bronny at #55 and signing JJ as head coach, idk if LeBron ever suits up for the Cavs ever again. I do think it's wild that if he signs even a 2 year deal with the Lakers, they will have had him for the longest consecutive stretch of his career, something other teams were never afforded with him.

Re: Around The NBA
I wonder what the Raptors are thinking?
They're willing to pay Quickley $175M/5, but traded Anunoby to avoid having to pay him $212M/5?

Re: Around The NBA
I would loved to get in on the Quentin Grimes trade. Very bad last year, but was injured and before that was a very solid role player who get hit his threes and play great defense

They must not believe in Grimes and/or want Hardaway Jr as a veteran presence and/or really value having add'l second round picks
Tho feels like Mavs made out like bandits

Re: Around The NBA
Still no news on a Murphy extension out of New Orleans.
What Philly does with its cap space will likely determine whether Ingram can get a max from a good team.
The Spurs are reportedly disinterested in giving the Hawks back their picks for Trae or Murray.
All things to keep an eye on.
