Me too. The second half of season 2 was extra good.

"Forks" is one of my favorite episodes of television ever.

Any episode with a Taylor Swift singalong is automatically a banger.

This week's episode of The Acolyte was pretty good

Only watched the one episode but The Bear kicks ass. So glad it’s back.

We finished up Dark Matter last night. It's decent/good. Some plot holes but that's to be expected given the reality bending that takes place. Jennifer Connelly needs to eat a sandwich. They filmed a ton in my old Chicago neighborhood. Weird seeing my old movie theater shown so prominently.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Finished it up last night too. I really enjoyed it until about midway through the 8th episode before it went flying completely off the rails in the 9th.

It's absurd that The Bear is just getting an all episodes dump. Again.

I'm going to take my time on Bear S3. 1 or 2 a week. If it was winter I'd plow right through it but so much going on in the summer I should be able to pace it.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

And that is my favorite 2 minutes in television history.

Long story, but I was a single father to 2 little girls at one point and Richie's arc really hits home for me. I now have 5 daughters and most of them adore Taylor Swift. Not ashamed to admit that I cry every time I watch that scene.

I just don't get it. It's one of the rare shows nowadays that's a 1 day dump has actually broken through as a huge hit. No reason to not stretch it out with a couple of eps a week or something.

Like how great would it have been to have a 1 week between the christmas dinner ep and forks to have some discourse.

Ep 1 of The Bear

Spoiler:
I was so glad to see Carmy actually being this amazing chef that has constantly been discussed/mythologized all series. Not that it's necessarily been the point of the show, outside of him making some crazy beef sandwiches, I've been really wanting to see him be at the top of his game in these famous kitchens.

Loved the tie in with Syd at the end.

I read a few reviews claiming nothing remarkable plot wise happens the whole season. If its just going to explore the characters and their back stories and how they relate to each other.. fine by me. That’s sort of what life is.

The Bear:

Spoiler:
Two episodes in. I'll be that guy who says the premiere episode was kinda meh. I'm fine with little dialogue, but a melodramatic 30-minute montage scene was a bit much. Just saying, not every camera shot in the show needs to be BIG EMOTIONS AND MELONCHOLY closeups. Thankfully, episode 2 picks it right up and was really good. Excited to watch the rest over the next couple weeks (cuz unlike you binge-watching degenerates, I have restraint 8-) )

I hate to say this but The Bear was pretty bad this season. A couple very, very good standout episodes you'd put up against anything, but a lot of stuff that was straight up lousy and/or huge wastes of time and talent.

I think I have one episode left. And yea, I agree. Frankly, just pretty boring. I guess its doing a bunch of background and character development type stuff that could payoff in future seasons. But its been pretty boring and idk seems like they're kind of trying to level the show up a bit and it didn't hit for me, but maybe it'll pay off in next few seasons.

Spoiler:
That was a weird first episode (25 minute montage of memories and cooking close ups). Ill also say its the future of non conventional network tv, as in episodes don’t really have to have a beginning - middle - end developing story because writers and directors are getting savvy to how people now watch shows in binge fashion. So Id say that would be a bizarre and indulgent episode if the show ran on NBC in 1997. But on hulu in 2024? It worked for me because I watched episode 1 and 2 consecutively and in that sequence, it was balanced.

I thought the first episode was the best of the season. That was art.

I hate weekly episodes, one slow episode and I may never pick a series up again. I would much rather binge a season over a weekend. There is so little content worth watching right now that I would love to binge something decent.

To each their own, but I'd be a hard disagree on there being little content. Its nuts how much is out there these days across all the platforms. Plus of course easy access to the last 25 years of the golden age of TV for anything of the past

yeah it's rare that my wife and I don't have at least two shows going at any one point in time. And then I usually have another one or two that I watch that she doesn't want to (The Boys being one example). There's a ton of good stuff out there these days.
