It’s very difficult to find players this big who are also this athletic. Edwards measured in at 6-11 1/2 without shoes at the combine with a 7-5 wingspan. That gives him an enormous 9-3 standing reach. On top of that, he tested among the best 7-footers ever. He had a 35.5-inch vertical leap and tested solidly for a big man in the lane agility drill.

Impressive profile.

Our new Ryan Hollins.

Edit. I take it back he seems more agile and quick than a big high flying big man.

Looks like Edwards was a guy who played well at the combine scrimmages to boost his stock. He's already 24, doesn't do anything great but has a good motor, does the little things and a nice athlete. If he can develop a jumper it'd give him a chance to make an impact.

There aren't many good bodies in Iowa.

Ryan Hollins is a good comp physically.
Edwards at least has some touch around the basket though, Hollins had hands of stone.

When you're thinking about signing or drafting a 24 year old though, you're really comparing him with unsigned G-Leaguers, vets, and euros floating around because the upside is pretty much gone.
You're hoping this guy could can come in and play defense and rebound in a pinch and not look like a total doofus on offense.
Edwards has a chance to do that at least.

I am seeing Jaedon Ledee being listed some places....that would be a great find. Another older guy who could learn and play right away if needed. 6'9 240 pf ... Here is a link to a good piece on him...https://theleadsm.com/jaedon-ledee-rising-up-2024-nba-draft-boards/

Supposedly the dude can shoot 3s as well. High IQ...comp to Dramond.
Even if half our rookies end up playing...we are going to be improved (including Clark, Miller, etc.)

Highlights show him shooting pretty well.... meaning shot looks nice and repeatable. Confident and accurate

The more I read about LeDee the more I want to watch him play in summer league. This is the classic TC special. He finds players who have something that teams would deem disqualifying, and then turns them into someone that people ask why didn’t we want him again? In Ledee’s case the knocks against are two fold. 1, he is 25 years old. 2, he only had one standout year in a six year college career (really 5 Seasons.) But his numbers in 23-24 are terrific, his body is elite by NBA standards, his shooting percentages are all in range, and he can defend. This could be a massive find or it could turn out to be an end of bench guy who mostly plays in Iowa. Good find for an undrafted free agent.

Have we done any real signings yet? Are these just SL type signings or is there more to them?

The West Virginia kid is on a two-way, the San Diego State and GWU guys are summer contracts.

OK I got it. Jesse Edwards is the only actual UDFA signing we've made so far.

Why do they prefer artificial turf on the football fields in Iowa?

Answer: To keep the cheerleaders from grazing.

How did the Iowan break his leg while raking?

Answer: He fell out of the tree.
