Re: Celtics 2024-25, Season Thread
I just finished watching highlight videos for our draft picks, Scheierman and Watson, and was trying to decide which player I liked better. A tough call, as they both look very good. I really can't decide. Yes, I know that a highlight video only focuses on the positive aspects of their games, but there is a lot of good stuff on display, and I feel confident that both are NBA roster ready. The draft is always a crap shoot, especially when one is drafting outside of the lottery, but I think Brad and his team just aced this draft. Looking forward to seeing both players in a Celtics uniform.

There was a post on X, where he went off on the Celts, after they Won it.
Edit. Here it is:
Sure makes me miss the old Perkins, the one who barely spoke for basically his entire playing career.

Can't blame him because he's making good money on what he's doing now.

Well realistically speaking only one will get his chance next year. And I am hoping a BIG Chance. Watson reminds me of a Swiss army knife in that he is useful to have around and can be plugged in for quite a few things.

If you plug in a Swiss army knife you're apt to get shocked.

Not sure I've listened to that much of the clip before -- it's the famed birdbrain one -- but it turns out his big criticism was that the Celtics didn't have "sets" in their offense.
Am I correct in presuming he's never retracted that?

Re: Celtics 2024-25, Season Thread
I've been saying that I believe the staff has a game plan for Queta and I hope it will be a RWill type gameplan. The difference when they had RWill was there really was no other gameplan. Think of a team that can not only bomb 3's from all 5 guys on the court but could also bring in a guy who can create havoc with the PnR? You would cause teams to completely switch up their defense for those moments. And they could do that when they bring in Sam and PP who will simply keep teams honest at the arc. A lineup of Queta-JB-Sam-White-Pritchard??? Replace JB with JT or Jrue with White??? Putting Queta with JT, JB, White and Jrue would be a nightmare for teams.
Lob city failed IMO because their superstars were the dunkers and the rest were just role players (except for CP3) who could shoot and lob it up. It would be crazy if this staff can't incorporate 15-20mpg for Queta to wreak havoc above the rim each game. You have not only multiple shooters but FOUR players who can drive to the basket and cause the defense to defend the drive leaving Queta free for lobs. Smart was very good at finding RWill for lobs, but he wasn't a good driver, he couldn't finish at the rim. Teams were prepared for his mini fadeaways. Check out the lineups in 21,22 with RWill in there. The weak link was Smart. There wouldn't be a weak link with Queta in the lineup because the starters can drive/shoot and when they insert Sam and Pritchard they could shoot. And just like RWill, teams can't play hack a shaq because he's a 70% FT shooter.
Joe was there during the RWill years so he saw what RWill brought to the lineup.

That's interesting and fits into what Brad Stevens said in April right after Queta made the 15 man roster:
“Just generally, first of all (Queta) has been great when he’s been with us,” Stevens said. “We’ve had moments this year when we’ve had only two bigs available and oftentimes with (Queta) he’s been able to come in and really fill a role and keep our team at a high, high level. The likelihood of anybody you sign at that 15th spot playing huge minutes in a playoff run is probably pretty low but he’s shown that he’s able to do that if surrounded by the right guys in the right role.
"That was one thing and then obviously with the contract that we signed, we think (Queta) is more than just a right now player. We think he’s a guy that can help us in the future. If you would have asked me going into the year with our four bigs, maybe we were a little bit unproven. By the middle of the year I was like ‘damn that’s a really good group.’ They can really play. They can play Al at the four, Kristaps at the four, with those guys or single without them. So they gave us a lot of flexibility this year and (Queta) was a big part of it.”

Yup and every post I read wanting the C's to draft the next big I said "we have a 7ft guy with a 7'4" wingspan who can make his free throws and has NBA experience and is going to be 25". I'll take that guy for the next 4 years all day long.

Pierce was also with ESPN a couple of years ago, but he was clearly a Celtic fan.
He was let go by ESPN.
Perk needs to be harsh to every team because the more you make the fan base angry, the more viewers you will get.

With the Celtics picking up the option on Hauser, the 2024 NBA Champions' top 8 guys in their rotation are officially back for a title defense.

Maybe I’m wrong but I think we have the Bronny version. The OG is the one that’s popular and trained big names and I think worked/works for Dallas. His handle is on 1000! I can only hope he’s as good as his father. This differs from Bronny because he worked and earned his way on his own merit with Joe in the college game.

I'm sure we have Jr.
I'm almost sure we don't have the one from Dallas, and that instead the Dallas one is Sr.

100%.
The thing that really stands out on film with both of them is the poise, maturity. Being in the right place at the right time. Knowing where to be and how to play. Now making *any* mistakes.
There will be an adjustment period to the NBA, but I see no reason why eventually both can't end up being decent rotational players - coming in off the bench, making some plays, hitting open shots (Baylor) or just being a glue guy who defends (Watson)..and contributing to winning.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Interesting that PP is the only backup PG on roster.
