Suns and Lakers

Post#1 » by shagadelic45 » Fri Jun 28, 2024 2:14 pm

(Beal waives his trade kicker and no trade clause, to play in LA and with Lebron. Russell opts into final year to guarantee a large salary for 2024.)

PHX TRADES: Beal

LAL TRADES: Russell, Rui, Vando, JHS

Suns lack depth and move one of their big 3 for more quality.

Lakers are in a serious 2-3 year window with Lebron and go for quality of quantity and add a third all star.

This is probably the closest the Lakers will get to a third “star”. As a Suns fan, have at it. We’ll pay any team to take him. Suns should at least put him on the trade block to piss him off to waive the NTC.

Apparently you would have to cut JHS out of the deal for it to be legal per ESPN Trade Machine.

I don’t see the Lakers going down this road. If they wanted to get Beal I would 100% trade him for DLo, Rui, and Vando. No need to add JHS. I’d ask for a couple second round picks but I wouldn’t kill the deal if the Lakers said no.

It worked in Fanspo, but JHS could easily be left out as well.

This is one of the few Beal destinations that could make sense.

But a lot of this making sense is Lebron’s willingness to take less and allow the Lakers to salary match below the first apron while keeping the full MLE to round out the roster.

Lakers would have the below if the trade was Rui + Dlo + filler

Vincent/BealVando/James/Davis
JHS/Kenecht/MLE.

Doubt lebron would take much less than he can, but could they theoretically use the MLE and then make the trade? Assuming they can match contracts evenly in any Beal trade.

Realize i don’t know that—does using the MLE mean you’re barred from any move that could put you over the first apron that whole season?

If Vincent or Vando are not included, I think the "+filler" would have to be all of JHS/Wood/Reddish/Hayes and im doubt we are seeing a 6 for 1 deal. Probably has to be Vincent or Vando to get it done.

Funny - I posted this a few hours before Lebron opted out and reports suggested he could take less to open up the non taxpayer MLE.

I’m not sure how the trade rules work with the new cba, but assuming the Lakers can do Russell + Rui for Beal, they can use the full MLE if Lebron takes a deal starting at 18MM.

Vincent/Beal/Vanderbilt/James/Davis
JHS/Reaves/Kenecht

Use the MLE for front court depth

Still have Wood, Reddish, Hayes, Lewis

One vet min slot.

Beal is a bad contract.

The Lakers should be getting some picks back in this deal.

Beal only has 3 years left on his deal - the last 2 years it will be 34% and 33% of the cap. So it’s becoming a manageable deal.

It is one of the worst contracts in the league.

The Suns are not getting out of this one for free in the second apron era.

As a Knicks fan I’d much rather have Beal on this 3 year deal then the contract I assume Julius Randle will get next summer.
