These contracts are nuts. Average starters get paid 25m minimum these days.

Miles probably wants 30-40, at least.

The only thing stopping him is if teams think he's toxic.

What concerns me with Miles is I’m sure he won’t be anyone’s first option, but once teams miss out on guys he’s going to move up the list and a desperate panic offer will come in.

That not only screws us with the salary demands but if it’s late in free agency we may have to scramble and get inferior players. It’s bad ****… I don’t see it ending well for us unless we get an S&T or we get an early re-signing. Otherwise we’re gonna have a painstaking waiting game.

Will be interesting to see what Miles does in FA. Have to think DET trading for THJ, drafting a wing with a top 5 pick, and now the fact that they are extremely unlikely to know who their head coach will be at the start of FA all have to be viewed as bad facts.

Maybe PHI will try to run up a bidding war, they've got tons of cap space and a dwindling list of FAs.

Re-sign on a multi-year minimum deal?

Evidently waiving Curry was required in the Dallas trade according to the PR account.

Also declined Thor's option. So that draft was fun. 2 years for each of them.

Why would it be required?

Whoops. I read it as "required" when it actually said acquired.

Now that we waived Curry, we can still keep Miles on his cap hold and have around 18-20 million in cap space.

Apparently, there is way we can bring in Reggie Jackson using part of our MLE (so 12.86 million - 5.25 million) so we will still have 7.6 million MLE we can give out to another player. You can actually split the MLE up among several guys. So there is a chance we can resign Curry into the remaining as well as give him a longer deal, so makes sense after looking more into it.

Dumb question that shows I don't know our salary position, but are we over the cap just with Miles' cap hold?

No we are about 35~ million under the cap overall, Miles Cap hold is 15, so that is the 18-20 million below the cap line even with Miles.

Gary Trent Jr is a name to watch for us, with our 20ish million in cap space in the scenario where we do resign Bridges.
He would give us a bigger body defender who can shoot at the 2, allowing Mann to come off the bench as a 6th man.

Toronto just drafted Jakobe Walter who is a natural replacement, along with them giving out a huge bag to Quickley

I don't think that's accurate. The Hornets have 14 rostered players which equates to $125 million. You add Miles Bridges' cap hold of $15 million and they are slightly over the cap of $141 million.
