LOL - seriously, no clue here either.

A quick aside, talking to my friend earlier -- I was saying how I really find it objectionable that a team like the Celtics didn't have no restrictions and stupid cap "aprons" when they built their team and put the finishing touches on it, right? Yet now we're finally close to taking a major leap and we can't even bring back our starting 5, a guy that we've had in house for a couple of years now. Celtics built their team already with all these top-heavy contracts they have.... Whatever. right? Just will make it that much more sweeter when we overtake their punk asses and go to the Finals.

Back to reality -- so yeah, I get that next to no one knows how much we have available to spend now, but do me a favor -- give me your 1 -3 as far as best fit and importance to secure on these 3, should Hartenstein really be a goner:

Jalen Smith
Goga Bitadze
Precious Achiuwa

I mean I'm sure there could be other options, but of these 3, I think that's my order in terms of who I'd want along with best fit/highest impact potential/talent level.

Anyone have a number for these 3, what would get it done?

For Jalen Smith -- suppose we offer the same as Indiana (assuming they even want him back) -- what if we also offered him the starting C gig? Would that be enough to entice him (or Bitadze) to come here? I could be wrong but I don't think Indiana or Orlando could offer either guy a starting spot..

Goga is the best option if Isaiah leaves, unless somebody else comes out of nowhere.

He’s not quite as good as Isaiah, but he’s close. Has comparable per minute numbers and size. Defense is his strength, and he can pass too. He’d fit right in sharing C duties with Mitch.

Jalen Smith and Precious are tweeners, and definitely not starting centers if Mitch gets hurt. Decent bench players but not who Id look at.

Another guy to look at from the hawks is bruno. Produces when he plays. Rebounds and blocks. Rim Runnah.

They don't really have room for him in their rotation.

I mean the big issue for us resigning Ihart isn't related to the new CBA but rather only having his early bird rights. Would have had the same issue in the old CBA. If he is willing to take our deal then yes we have to jump through some hoops due to the bridges trade. But if we lose him it's not because of the new CBA but rather us not having the foresight to sign him to a 3 year deal.

So does FA start tonight at 12? Also is that when the new year starts and the Bridges trade can be actually done?

Oh wow. Talk about bad timing. Mets reliever Drew Smith just sprained his ulnar collateral ligament and is getting Tommy John surgery in his free agent year. That’s rough.

Maybe we could get him at a discount?

The one thing we probably lack right now as crazy as it sounds is a veteran voice, a Udonis Haslem, that everyone respects... I think Lowry can be that. Even past his prime, I was concerned whenever he was on the floor against us in the playoffs... like he gonna pull off a vet trick play that turned momentum of a game and he did a few times, but he seemed to get exasperated as series went on because it became apparent to him the IQ of the rest of Sixers were not at the same level as he was... and he was marching alone

Obviously he's a Nova too, but at his age, he's a father figure he's not gonna be in the Nova bubble too much so he can be the stabilizing Nova guy that reminds the Nova guys and the rest of the team we're still ONE, this is not "the Nova Knicks and the rest of guys", we are all ONE with the common goal of a championship. He got a ring to boost, real experience, real playoffs know how/ IQ, real coach extension on the floor... I'd give him a spot. Ultimate Nova piece?

I think the problem with getting Kyle Lowry is that he's going to want to play. Wouldn't be bad that he gets to play but Deuce goes back to getting DNPs. Seems like a waste to have Deuce getting 0 mins again.

What do you guys think of Randle for Sabonis? The Domantas - Fox pairing has been so and so... they regressed from their run 2 seasons ago when they pushed the Warriors to 7 games, maybe they want to break away from that and try a higher scoring player in Randle... both All Stars, similar age.

In case we can't keep IHart, Dom is as good as it gets to replace him as far as a center who can pass (8.2apg). He also leads the L in rebounding (13.7 rpg), and in top 10 in FG% (59.4%), andddd he's durable (82 games played this past season).

I love Randle, imo he brings a physicality dimension to our offense few players in the league can give, sort of a yang to JB's shake-and-bake yin. Stop JB on the perimeter? JB gives it up to Randle, now you have to deal with him inside and deal with it differently because he's gonna bang and hit you, unlike JB. He complements all guys who cut to the rim or catch and shoot like OG, Divo. But Mikal's arrival changes the dynamic a little, because on top of cutting to the rim and catch and shoot, he can also create off dribble and need space to operate. Randle being inside the 3 pt line sort of clogs the area a little for Mikal imo.

Play Lowry 5 mpg in reg season, in playoffs ramp it up to 8-12 mpg, those minutes can be momentum-turning huge...

I’d love to see Lauri, Sabonis or Towns for us. it’s those three and/or Randle. I’d also like Nurkic as our backup.

I do realize that none of that is going to happen outside of maybe Lauri coming here. Towns really is way too expensive now and Nurkic, while I love his creativity, is nowhere near the player he once was. Sacramento will simply try again.

Jerami Grant would’ve been cool next to Mitch, but we don’t need him anymore.

Out of those realistic replacements for Hartenstein, Jalen Smith strikes me as the best basketball player.

Oubre made sense as a non tax payer MLE wing target compared to them going into the second apron to keep Bojan. The target could change but it never made sense they would bring Bojan back. No one thought the Nets would actually do the trade, and all the professional reporters kept telling us it couldn’t happen.
