any deal for miles will most certainly be in the 30-35 range now.

If Paul George signs with the 76'ers and the Pistons are set on taking on contracts for picks Miles will have no choice but to take whatever we're offering him if he wants more than the MLE.

He's pressing his luck. At the same time, Paul George is far from a slam dunk for the Sixers and they're flush with cash. Miles' butthead reps will advise him to straddle the line until Paul George is settled. The $$ being given out to these other guys in the interim is only helping Miles' case for the patented overpay.

As much as I love OG Anunoby, 42 million per is the type of plunge made by second apron teams. He's the reason why contenders are flashing 2-way contracts up and down the second round.

So it won't cripple a small market team but don't expect it to feel like a really good foot massage to a man with a foot fetish.

To the pitchfork alliance dwelling in the Boonies, I think I will go ahead and put this right here.

Intended to sow doubt in his psyche. A strategic bluff, hopefully?

The baseline number comes in (please correct my math if inaccurate) at 18 million.

Klutch probably opened at double it. Close to Anunoby $.

The subliminal message is we value your replacement at 90 over 5.

I don’t know if i would have wasted money on Pat Williams. He’s a PJ Washington level meh player. Chicago is hopeless

They look to be stumbling upon the treadmill in slow motion, but this payout reflects the trends forming from the rise in cap.

Maybe they have a taker for LaVine in Los Angeles now that the Pelicans plucked Dejounte Murray.

Atlanta seems quite clingy to their past as well.

Still there was no reason for it to be 5 years. Make it 3 and it’s a trade asset. 5?? Pat doesn’t shoot enough 3s nor does he play enough games

.

You think the Bulls fancied themselves some lone wolf bidder and that his agent doesn't grasp his market?

One way I look at it is the Hornets value Miles greater than Rozier whose contract returned positive value in the form of a 1st round pick.

So I think they must (if haven't yet presented/floated parameters for an opening offer) open with 4 years 97 million. If they could settle there, all the better, but I don't think so.

*this assumes the market values Rozier & Miles as 3rd options. LaMelo & Miller stand ahead of Miles and should receive a greater share of shot attempts.

Yes, and if Miles flies, there are few replacements in free agency worth having. Since Peterson seems intent on the “long road via development”, what does he do with no Miles option? Trade for John Collins? I’m good with that if we absorb some salary and don’t give up too much, but assets given away deplete future options.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

After seeing some of these big deals that have came through I think a lot of the people who are demanding Miles take 20 million are pretty far off of what a reasonable value is. Would I love it? sure but it is also really unreasonable.

I also think if the Hornets hard number is 28 million per yr and he signs for 32 million then it would be pretty dumb to let his talent go for a few million when in reality we have plenty of financial flexibility in our roster over the next few years.

sign miles back at whatever cost tbh
whats the point of worrying about the cap, were paying LaMelo, we're not paying Brandon for a long time
nobody better than Miles is ever gonna sign here
just get it done
