Yeah frustrating but Dom's circumstance seems to be a positional side effect.

He's got Wemby/Sochan/Collins/Mamu in the depth chart whereas JC rode a hot end of previous season 20-game streak into a guaranteed contract and had every chance to prove it but without any stiff competition for the spot.

It's a good contract in that it's cheap and you need those on the roster - for role players.

I think had we not tendered offers to at least Mamu (on main roster) if not both he and Duke (Austin / experienced older guard) there could have been a higher risk of losing them. I'm sure FO has a pulse of who is more needed.

Dom has sort of slipped through the cracks to our benefit if not really his own. He has improved but the next step is to get that one shot to be so automatic it's associated with him. He's a good utility guy who stands out with fundamentals and effort but now needs to show he's more than a clean up guy who can take a bruising and put back boards and provide an occasional bucket. A more reliable scoring arsenal will be less physically taxing for him and will force us to play him.

Mamu and JC hit 3s. Sochan does. Collins. Wemby. We need floor spacers. Dom has to force his way up the pecking order. Not just with distance shots but variety.

And we need to force JC to play like his spot is challenged with guys who can actually challenge it.

We got bigger and stronger and more talented and versatile through the draft. We still need a savvy 3&D SF starter. Please basketball gods, please...

IMO he is better than Mamu and Collins(on most nights) but he never gets a chance to play. Every time he is on the floor he does something positive even overcoming being totally shut out of our offense by our own players.

I'm not saying Barlow is some kind of star but I think he is the one who is cheap and we can get the most out of.

I like Duke but now he is never going to play after who we drafted. I have absolutely no idea why he is signed.

Mamu is another Champaigne. They fool everyone by playing well in one game then are total ass for the next 20. Get them off my roster. Im tired of seeing them.

I understand he is probably the odd man out because Bassey will be back but Bassey is another guy who will play decent for 2 games and totally suck for 58. I think Barlow brings much more to the table than him also.

I think people are forgetting how extraordinarily bad this team was last season even with Wemby on it. And its because of players like Champaigne and Mamu.

Mamu is a far better passer and scorer than Dom though. And so if Dom wants that spot ahead of him, he has to broaden his scoring skill set. He's not a spacing threat so teams play him a certain way and we can only play him in limited minutes. It is what it is.

Agree about Duke. That's just taking care of cap maintenance right now.

Mamu/Bassey/Collins. Two of three hit 3s and pass well. CBass out-physicals Dom just through sheer body type strength. Dom has to stand out with more scoring or he's wasting not showing his BBIQ more. Have a feeling this is a make or break season for him should he stick with us.

So that's the 1 sorted. Well done.

We still need to address the 3.

Naji is going to the Mavs, too bad. Only $9M/yr but with $11M going to CP3, we have to pivot elsewhere.

Batum or Harris?

Trade?

We'll see...

Well there go Harris for way too much and Nic for surprisingly too little elsewhere.

Ah well. The search for a starting upgrade of a 3&D SF continues...
