Not really, he’s a playoff rotation piece to good teams. Yeah if you want to dump his salary it cost picks.

Dallas could and should trade Green and Kleber for Wiggins.

His injury was the big factor of our great PO run... A guy scared to shoot is unplayable in the post season.
After Powell it's time to open your eyes on Maxi too.

I doubt someone will trade for him unless you take back another bad contract. So he is pretty untradable.

Find another bench center in the league who can switch 1 through 5 and shoots 40% from 3 in the playoffs.

He was much more willing to shoot before the shoulder injury. He was 10 of 18 from 3 in the clippers series and then 2 of 10 in the last 7 games. Maxi is for sure too deferential too often. But he was clearly shooting less because the shot wasn’t there because of the injury.

If you’re turning on Maxi despite him being a consistent positive on the court for the Mavs every year because he came back from injury early to try and help the team. Well that actually sounds like the illogical recency bias someone like you would fall into.

I'm not a fan of signing Kennard for part or most of the MLE. Amazing shooter in the RS but was noticeably scared to shoot in his last 2 playoff runs on good teams. He literally would only shoot wide open 3s and pass up anything semi contested. His defense would also be a huge issue considering we already have to hide both Luka and Kyrie.

I think he certainly helps the team but I'm concerned about his playability vs the top teams (especially BOS).

He shoots 1.2 3s less in the playoffs in his career, but per 36 he shoots .6 less. And he actually has shoot a higher percentage, so he’s not much of a playoff dropper.

Interesting but I'm going off eye test. I watched all his playoff games the past 2 years he was in (LAC and MEM). He looked scared out there. Passing up shots unless he HAD to shoot them since it was too wide open. Coach Lue when he was on the Clips said many times in pressers of needing Kennard to shoot more, basically pleading with him to be more confident and aggressive.

Good player but I get worried about guys like this. My preference with the MLE is someone we know for sure can play against the top teams for at least 15-20 mpg in the playoffs. In my opinion, I don't think Kennard can.

Bad start, Maxi isn't a center.
He is a power forward who scores one 3 points a game despite everybody in the world left him wide open. Wow.
Plus he is always injuried.

A lot of posters here act like he is Al Horford, he is not.

We need good players along Luka, not those scrubs.

Marc Stein is reporting that Nico is prepared to make signing or trading for Klay Thompson a priority even above DJJ.

My guess is Klutch got to DJJ and Lebron is trying to assemble Klutch friends in LA. Word got to Nico so naturally you need to pivot. Lebron will take a paycut to get one of Klay or DJJ it seems. If Dallas ends up with both, Rich Paul might shoot himself. Be that it may, I'm okay with Klay and KCP instead if the DJJ angle is closed.

Someone I'm surprised hasn't really been brought up here is Caleb Martin. He would fit in really well too. Had a great playoffs the previous year and also averaged 12 and 4 vs Boston this year on 44% from 3. The previous year before that 19 and 6 on 49% from 3 against BOS and almost won EC MVP. Still only 28 too.

It was a fluke IMO, neither he nor his twin brother have done anything else in their careers...

1. Dallas trades Green / Kleber / 2025 Mavs 2nd for Andrew Wiggins
2. Dallas signs Luka Kennard to a 4 year 40 million dollar deal.
3. Dallas signs Haywood Highsmith to the BAE to be a backup forward.

Luka / Exum
Kyrie/ Kennard / Hardy
Wiggins / Grimes / Lawson
PJ / Highsmith / OMax
Lively / Gafford / Powell

I think that team is good enough to win it all next year.

I'd love it if this how it went down.
Doubt the Highsmith part, Miami should match.

I don't like the Kennard part of the deal...I'd Pass on that one

I mean sure I obviously don't expect him to replicate 19 and 6 but he's still a solid 3&D role player. The fact that he has played very well 2 years in a row vs BOS is telling enough. I'd love his toughness here.

LBJ is making a run at Klay or Harden. Not DJJ. DJJ isn't significantly better than Reddish. I think Grimes is able to take on defensive assignment DJJ usually taken. The only difference may be injury. Grimes is approaching FA and is Texas native.

Maybe the Mavs just look for an upgrade over Maxi.

I expect the Mavs to have moderate interest with Buddy who wants to play alongside Luka not long ago. Personally, I like Mo Wagner or Isiah Hartenstein instead. The Mavs has no answer to the likes of KP. This is a glaring weakness the team has to address.

I think Hardy is ready for a rotation role. I am not over concern losing Hardaway. Of course, the Mavs want sure things. It's hard to say if Klay still has 3 years left being effective. Isn't Klay considered liability on defensive end as a streaky shooter? In case, it is. Why not Buddy Hield?

If the Mavs is looking for third scorer, Wiseman is a potential option at really.cheap.price.

Weird to try and get pedantic but still be wrong. Basketball is positionless so he’s literally both. Yeah he doesn’t score much, but he’s offering versatility.

Yes, basketball is positionless, but in the last two seasons Maxis contribution has been little to none...he's always injured, he's not as good on D as he was and he's afraid to shot....he should be traded this offseason and replaced with someone else...for what he's given you the last two seasons you can get a Player on a veteran minimum

Return to Dallas Mavericks
