Cut Paul. Use tpmle. 2031 first even with protections is dicey part of deal.

I’d do that deal without putting in the 2031 first. And might keep Paul actually.

What would happen to our salary cap if we’d cut CP3?

Could send him to a third team too if this were to be a thing and Doc / Chris aren’t interested in a reunion.

Otherwise it’d be cool for Giannis to have someone who can throw a lob.

I think this makes moving Patty C much easier.

I dont think anyone wants to burn that on Pat

Royce O'Neale just got 4/$44 million. He's trash. Someone will scoop up Pat. Mediocre teams want veteran leaders.

You might be right actually. Nice

What may be the smartest but also least immediately satisfying plan:

1. try to sign the best min vet guys you can
2. Hold remaining draft assets for now
3. Give young players every chance to prove themselves in the first two months
4. Make necessary changes at deadline

This works because the offensive machine will not depend on anyone we pick up. Its the trio, and everyone else gets fed off the gravity. Anyone can step into that and be successful as long as the trio is clicking.

No, we still can't trade the '31 1st because at some point giving away Daisy the dairy cow for six magic beans and off-the-shelf promises that never pan out reaches the point of diminishing returns.

Well one if not more of the trio will for sure get injured at some point during the season. So the offense may depend on someone that they pick up.

Has the Mavs/Pistons trade been made a official?

I’m not positive but I think the only thing cutting CP3 would accomplish for us is losing an expiring contract we could use in trades. We’d be guaranteeing his $30 million contract in the trade so there’s no real point in cutting him at that point.

Yes, probably, but

1. Regular season doesn't really matter
2. Whoever we pickup is most likely not going to be a creator anyway

My biggest fear of that is Middleton, Portis, and Lopez all leaving on free agency next off-season and we get nothing for them.

This could truly be our last dance.

My read on Jack and the Beanstalk is also that the beans were *not* magic

He is a better 3pt shooter, rebounder and defender than Pat. If the Bucks had some 2nd rd picks it should be easy based on the players that have already been dumped by teams.

I think his use will be as salary filler to add-on to Lopez or Portis so they can take back a big salary and a minimum.

People do realize that Jack and his mother got very rich because of the magic beans and lived happily ever, right?

It doesn’t seem like anyone really knows how it works. Frank Madden says the way the CBA is written seems to indicate we can combine salaries as long as the trade brings us under the second apron.

Ok so if that’s right we couldn’t cut CP3 and use the TPMLE this year.

Letting him and Brook expire next year I’m sure would have some apron if not luxury tax benefits. But we lose the salary slots.
