You try to pump up Lauri, Sexton, Clarkson and Collins value and dump them all for future picks and cap space. Tank and go for Cooper. I think Jazz know they don’t have enough impact youth to be a contender.

Now that we've seen more shoes fall, I think it's time to move Lauri and just bottom out. Even with him we are going to be tragically bad, but the West has made some massive improvements and there is going to be an arms race to improve. Some possibilities:

SAC trades: Harrison Barnes, 2028 SAC 1st (unprotected), 2030 SAC 1st (unprotected), 2027 pick swap, 2029 pick swap, 2031 pick swap
UTA trades: Lauri

PHI trades: 2026 PHI/OKC/HOU 1st (least favorable conveyed), 2028 LAC 1st, 2029 LAC/PHI 1st (higher), 2030 pick swap
UTA trades: Lauri

OKC: 2025 OKC/HOU/LAC 1st (highest conveyable, OKC can swap their pick w/HOU top 10 protected or LAC), 2025 MIA 1st (1-14, unprotected), 2026 HOU/LAC/OKC 1st (highest conveyable, HOU protected 1-4), 2027 OKC/LAC/DEN 1st (highest conveyable, OKC can swap their pick or Denver's pick for LAC's)

NOP: McCollum, 2025 NOP 1st, 2027 NOP 1st, 2027 MIL 1st, 2029 NOP 1st
UTA: Lauri

etc. something where we get as many picks as possible either from a team in the West who won't have a gtd. spot every single year, or from a team that owns someone else's draft assets.

After drafting another guard I'm more open to moving Sexton for picks, and I'd like us to dump Collins even if it means using the worst pick in 2025 or 2027 to make him go away.

If Lauri can return the same value as Bridges, you trade him today. Utah should hope their future core is found in the next two drafts mixed with the prospects they have. And be aiming to be a play-in team in 2026-2027.

If Bridges broke the market, renegotiate Lauri to his max this year and add 2-3 years. Meet him in middle and give him a 4yr180 with the 4th year being a player option (like he played out this season and signed a 3yr160..) he gets to be a free agent at 30 if he’s still playing like a top 25 (meh) player, but safe if he isn’t.

At the draft next year, he’ll be a more secure asset and Utah will still tank in 2025-2026 unless they land Bailey or Cooper..

But I’m tanking this year either way..

Seems obvious they should be tanking for a top 4 pick next year. I’d try to extend Lauri for sure this summer to lock him in to either stick around as the franchise guy or as a trade chip next summer. He’s not gunna kill the tank and you need someone to help sell tickets.

Everybody else besides the recent draftees can go for whatever picks you can get (maybe take back some larger contracts for better picks), just to help move the tank along.

Following some of the tanking/hoarding OKC-style trends (which I agree with)...

ORL sends: ORL 25 frp (top 8 protected)
UTA sends: Sexton (straight into cap space)

or...if UTA prefers, ORL sends: Jett Howard (plus, $12m of cap space)

Sign and extend Lauri, but listen to offers. Trade Clarkson and Collins if you can. Let the kids play.

I don't think you trade away a Top 30 player if he wants to be there and is only 27. You need some competent players to help the kids learn how to play. Part of me would hate to tear everything down veteran wise and the Jazz still pick #4 or #5 in the draft.
