MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Masai traded 2 players who back in 2016 and 2017, were Masai type FRPs. Now in 2024, he drafts 2 more Masai types with picks 19+31. And those are just TWO of the assets they got back in the trades.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Wake up people, Masai is back.

Can we get an up to date tally on the current return for siakam.

Counting the cap space, i already cant keep it straight.

See, i thought we used the cap space we acquired by not resigning him to trade for mitchell vez and picks, no?

As expected, the trade tree is turning into a solid return.

You can criticize the FO for not moving off of Pascal earlier, but they did well with the return considering the only other team that was willing to bid with realistic offers was Sacramento and that the Kings burned their chance by trying to talk down Pascal's value in negotiations and Pascal (justifiably) saying he wouldn't re-sign there.

That pretty much sums up the deals right there.

this, A+ grade, the team couldnt wint 41 games with those two so paying them 400 million was not the answer

The issue was always Masai not building with Pascal & OG when they had value contracts the past 3-4 years. Hopefully the return atleast get us back to that point, but we are not close to even knowing.

I'm not a capologist like that, but I wouldn't include the sac deal apart of the Pascal deal even if we did save $$$. You could easily say we used part of our MLE in the trade as well if I'm not mistaken

Ya appreciate your thoughts, htg, you helped me reinforce the idea.

We traded siakam for expirings and desposables like nwora.

Thats the only reason we were able to get mitch sasha, picks and ditch mcd.

Snead, mitch, sasha, port 2nd are at least, partially a part of the siakam trade.

No?

If they don’t play well, is he still back?

I’m not hating on the trades just need a wait and see approach to see how well the new young guys play if we are rating the trades.

Would you rather pay OG, Fred and Pascal 130 millions per season? Or pay Barnes, Barrett and Quickley 105 million per year?

Its far too early to call Masai is back. Just because Masai drafted some athletes doesn't mean they are OG and PS equivalents. Precious Achiuwa was the ultimate Masai type FRP, that turned out pretty poor

+1

Also supports the theory that the Raptors were getting more lowball offers than not for Pascal, shopping him earlier or not would not of made as much of a difference as others believed.

Precious played like more of a Masai-type project in college than Masai-type FRP. Masai never drafts college players with a higher dBPM than oBPM in the 1st round, 2nd round sure.

In response to the bolded, for FRP prospects end of year 3 of their rookie scale is usually the best time for a final judgement. New 2nd round pick exception probably means Mogbo gets 3 years too, unlike Koloko who only got 2 guaranteed years despite also being an early SRP with Masai-type FRP numbers as a Junior.
