yeah, that's criminal
i mean unless he really wanted out and would have declined a similar offer from the Nuggets...

that's gotta hurt...the Magic are good now and it's always been a sunny and relatively low taxes and thus a pretty desireable destination for NBA players. he's a very good fit on that squad.

Once again Klutch probably did what's best financially for their client.

Because he is replaceable. People got all uptight about Bruce Brown last summer. As it turns out, playing next to Jokic opens a few things up.

Bruce Brown was a sixth man, a wild card that gives you a little bit of everything
KCP has been a key starter and one of the team's leaders, he was also a key starter for the Lakers ring a while back, guys like KCP don't grow on trees, sure you can replace him, but he's the type of guy that gets a team over the edge, just like old man Jrue was for these C's, or Conley for the Wolves

he's not a great player, a tanking team can't do much with him but for a contender = he's very valuble and those ultimate "glue guys" type player don't grow on trees and aren't easy at all to replace. a guy like Danny Green comes to mind from the past decade as well.

the downgrade to his replacement is meaningful when ur aspiring to go all the way imo

ORL overpaid. He also might not be well liked in the DEN locker room. Teams can't give all their players everything they want. With Jokic, Murray, Gordon and Porter... how do you justify DEN giving KCP $20m+. He might be worth it somewhere, just not in DEN.

well, if he isn't well liked and there's more to this story which would def explain why they were so ho hum' about him leaving as both sides basically mutually prefered to move on - that's a diff story

as for overpaid, you gotta pay to play...if there wasn't bad blood or some tension. i'd expect an incumcent veteran to give up on a couple of mil if it means not uprooting himsef, his family and keep running it back. so let's say at 20m? and it doesn't seem to me like Denver even made such an offer. the MLE is worth 13M rn...I don't see how KCP isn't worth 18-20 a year for a couple more years

yeah, that's a slight over payment for sure but that's the way it goes, especially with vets
