Expected 100-120/3, surprised he took onl 2 years deal.

It's clear the Clippers want to keep this group together for the short term, so this is a solid deal.

Losing Paul George for nothing would make this offseason a disaster.

Harden's a cautionary tale of what happens when you turn down money. KD got his money and Kyrie will likely be made whole after the BRK fiasco (tho he'll have to get 2 different max/near max contracts instead of just the 1 BRK offered him). Harden, otoh, lost out on like 100mill...damn

A good value deal for the Clippers. Harden burned so many bridges so quickly other teams were wary, limiting his market.

It’s a good deal for LAC. Thought Harden could get more.

But think its huge considering their pick debt

it can be both fully gtd and have a PO, in fact that's standard mate.

Good deal for both.

So end of the day Morey told Harden the truth of his value, he was hurt, and messed up his chances to be on a competitive team.

That doesn't appear to be the full story with Harden/Morey.

Harden was a FA in 2022 coming off an all star season. He was still considered a max player then. Instead of taking a multi year deal though, he rather oddly took a one year plus player option deal worth way less. That allowed PHI to stay below the tax and open up some extra extension signings while doing so.

It seemed very obvious at the time that Morey convinced Harden to sign for less for 1 year with a promise to make him whole the next year. Sure, you can say Morey was "telling the truth" that he wasn't worth that much the following year, but that ignores that point that Harden should have already been on a guaranteed deal for more money anyway but he did Morey a solid by going along with the wink-wink.

I don't think we know the exact numbers though so it's hard to say who was in the right/wrong here.
Harden still played himself IMO because he truly did appear spite himself. Whether this was due to treachery or not, James has done several things through his career (getting out of shape, not giving effort, demanding the trade from NJN in the first place).

Wasn't meant in the sense of contradictory but rather stating the obvious for brownie points, going along with flinging all the possible dookie at a wall to hope something sticks....
