Can’t lose ihart. We lost chemistry, scoring, passing, blocks 1.1, and steals 2.2 at the center position.

That’s a huge loss if iHart leaves. Jonas would’ve been the next best choice by a pretty big margin.

disagree completely. Jonas in a thibs scheme doesn't make sense at all.

yeah he would’ve been my backup option as well. not really high on goga who seems like he’s not much better than Nerlens noel. we need to find a way to keep ihart at any cost. lock him in his house and don’t let him leave without signing a contract. like the clippers did with Deandre Jordan lol

I think it’s good news they met and nothing was announced. It means they didn’t finish a deal in person.

How so

zero rim protection.

Guys shot 67% at the rim vs Jonas last year....that is like what small guards allow at the rim.

For example Goga allowed players to only shoot 55% at the rim.

That is like night and day.

And I'm not even talking about blocked shots (which is a nice bonus which Jonas doesn't block shots anymore). I'm strictly just talking about rim protection. And pelicans had DEF rating per 100 possessions of 116 when he was on the floor. When he was off 112.2.

So he getting to be a liability defensively at this point in his career.

he doesn't fit defensively but on offense he brings a lot. anyways doesn't matter now.

Thing is tho what other options are out there?

I’m looking at his ability to replace a lot of what iHart brings… offensive and defensive rebounding, touch around the basket, passing, and he can shoot the 3 ball which iHart can’t do. He’s not a rim protector like iHart, but he’s a solid man defender and I think under Thibs, those defensive %’s you mentioned would be improved, like with most players who play under Thibs.

brings "a lot" is a bit of a stretch. He shot sub 31% from 3 on only 1.5 attempts. He is a pretty decent FT shooter which is a nice plus and a still a pretty good rebounder.

Certainly his offense doesn't outweigh the liability he has been on a defensive end...

if your looking for someone that sort of plays like Ihart its not Val...it would be Goga.

this would be the per 36 comparison between them both.

Image

Val can't move his feet anymore and is a pretty serious liability on defense at this point in his career and I think that is a non-starter for us. He also shot like 30% from 3 last year...which really isn't a positive. My guess teams would welcome an offensive possession with it ending with a Val 3.

He basically still a good rebounder...I will give you that.
