Not a huge fan of Murray... I know he helped win them a title, but I feel like he's alwas been a volume scoring combo guard.
Good assessment:
PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

LeBron taking a "paycut" yeah right. If reports were true that the Denver offer was the same as the one KCP eventually accepted from Orlando then that supports my suspicion that this was another one of Rich Paul's manipulations. They want to weaken LeBron's competition out West. Then there's DJJ who signed with the Clippers for only 1m/year more than what Dallas eventually gave to Marshall. By the way I think Klay's signing with the Lakers. They're gonna be stacked + the ref factor. Everyone, especially Silver, wants to see a Lakers vs Celtics finals.

I really hope so. We would smoke them

Paul George signs a 4 year $212 million contract with Philly
That's big bikkies for someone who has never been a proven playoff performer and has constant injury concerns.

Just goes to show the Sixers are desperate.

A lot to play out but PG13 is an excellent player who had a good year. He fits 6ers very well too.
They are dangerous with those 3. Still a lot to prove and play out, including filling out the roster, but let's not make the mistake of not acknowledging it's a good signing for them.

Philly never beats Boston.
Adding George isn't changing the equation.

True.
If the Knicks lose Hartenstein, they will be in trouble against the Sixers.

It seems most of the Celtics main competitors for the Title (Knicks, Pacers, Philly, OKC, Minny, evil Lakers, Dallas) have improved
while perhaps their most dangerous foe, Denver, has receded a bit. This is why, I favor the Celtics becoming better themselves.
I am a big Baylor fan and think he will help more than what most expect. Other than defending impactful offenders, he does
everything else well and should quickly become a fan favorite. In time, I expect him to become their best Bench player. So,
a good start, but adding another quality Vet/Ring Chaser should also be in their game plan...

The C's whole rotation is quality vets. I'm thrilled they recognize the opportunity to shore up the center position behind Fragile Porzi and Aging Al by retaining and developing Queta and Tillman, with Kornet providing minutes insurance there for them as well. I also expect Watson to add some nice D 'n Depth at the 4.

Re: Free Agent, Trade & Extensions Thread, 2024-25
PHI still has a good amount of picks, including some LAC picks that they just made more valuable by signing PG.
I don’t think they’re particularly dangerous now. Obviously no pushover and they present some challenges, but I think they’re behind us and Knicks for now. But if they use those picks to get someone else… then that’s different.

Celtics roster now the 2nd most expensive in the league behind the Suns. Warriors, Lakers, Nuggets, and Clippers could all theoretically avoid the tax. Though Lebron taking a huge paycut is a see-it-to-believe-it situation.

Re: Free Agent, Trade & Extensions Thread, 2024-25
I like this version of the Philly triumvirate more than the one with Harden. PG is a cleaner fit alongside Embiid/Maxey and plays both sides of the ball. Aside from injuries, Embiid's 50-yo daddy (now champion) still plays in the East so it's no guarantee he can now make it out of the 2nd round.

Re: Free Agent, Trade & Extensions Thread, 2024-25
I still stand by my idea that they should make a heavy push to get Tobias Harris in here for the minimum if DET doesn’t blow their cap on him. Other FA spots are drying up quickly and there’s usually a few good guys forced to take less.
Regular season minutes if everyone were healthy:
PG: Holiday (30), Pritchard (18)
SG: White (32), Brown (16)
SF: Brown (18), Hauser (20), Tatum (10)
PF: Tatum (25), Harris (23)
C: Porzingis (27), Horford (21)
If Tatum/Brown/Holiday/White/Harris all played 72 games and missed 10, then we’d consider ourselves lucky. That’d be a combined 50 games which is over half the season. In games where any of those one guys is out you’d be able to play both Walsh and Scheiermam 10-15 minutes each if you wanted. Combined with a bunch of GLeague time, that’s not bad for a rookie and a 2nd year 20 year old.
The big men (Queta, Kornet, whoever else we sign) all
Get their chances with KP out to start the year and bring load manager thereafter, as well as Horford’s normal rest schedule.
Obviously not a pressing need, but they should pursue Harris as a good value play.
