Still think we would not have enough depth to have real shot at the chip next year, the Batum news sucks. Wonder whether the Dummond signing is an indication that Reed will be played as an energy weakside protector next to Embiid.

Maxey, Oubre, George, Reed and Embiid.

Or we're going to combine Reed and McCain salaries for a legitimate forward rotation player?

The Sixers could either waive Paul Reed, in which case they'd have ~$7.7 million in additional cap space to work with, or they could trade Reed's contract, allowing them to take back up to ~$15m in salary.

I think we can't take that much back because of the 1st apron hard-cap. I have a post a few back that lays it out.

Well the Sixers are locked into their team. A Big 3 and fringe moves from here on out.

I'm not the biggest fan of this route, but Daryl has set everything up as well as you could hope with both talent and draft assets, and flexibility that he can still use this summer. Good luck.

I guess BBpaul and pick(s) for a forward in the range of 10-12M and then vet mins.

Congrats everyone. Obviously not a top-15 player anymore, but a fantastic complementary vet to Maxey and Embiid. Now it's up to Morey to create a good enough supporting cast that provides enough energy, defense and shooting.

Waking up to a Paul Reed trade for a (good + non washed) forward that's taller than 6'8 and can bring some rebounding and defense would complete my summer.

Take a chance again on Roco?

I think Reed ticks those three boxes.

I assume that we're going to wait and see how the FA market plays out. With such a hole in the rotation, it is an ideal spot for FA's to prove their capabilities with a one-year deal, similar to Oubre last year.

I was thinking that when I was typing it out lmao.

Reed could theoretically stay, I classify him as a C though, and there's some fluidity issues trying to play Reed alongside Drummond or Embiid.

Nurse was a double big merchant in Toronto and he never even attempt to play Reed alongside Embiid due to clunkiness.

We still desperately need to address secondary rim protection and rebounding in the S5. It would help to preserve Embiid throughout the season when he's on the floor. It's just far too tasking to expect Embiid to have to anchor the entire defense by himself, step out onto the perimeter on switches and still have to crash the glass for us to have any chance at competing in the rebounding battle.

I would hate to see George playing the 4 next season.

We urgently need an athletic 4 who defends and grabs rebounds. Who could it be?

How many chances does Reed need to prove he can be that player? I, for one, would prefer another player to give us what he has never given us and I doubt he will.

Yeah BBPaul is a center not a forward. We need a Batum-type of player

Maybe we can still convince Batum to take the remaining cap space after we waive BBPaul. That's still around 8-10M.

Nance (11M)? Olynyk (13M)? Grant Williams (13M?) B.Clarke (12.5M)?

I can't find many others in the 10-13M range and tradable

Pretty sure none of those are possible. Actually, not quite true, but would have to trade McCain and manipulate cap space a bit:

Hopefully we get some reporting soon that clarifies the apron situation.

Nance would be phenomenal, if possible. Pure hustle guy, very good rebounder and team defender and can step out onto the perimeter if need be.

A Nance/Batum PF rotation for our asset pool would be peak...
