Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
We have the full five years for Maxey. No player option in the fifth year. It is going to be a massive bargain in years 3/4/5.

By that time he'll officially be the top guy on the team and hopefully ready to be the next Steph/Lillard!

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
I wonder if 2-14 if enough to lure Jalen Smith here? They have just enough to squeeze that salary in. Then just re-sign KJ to a slightly bloated deal (2-20?) with the idea of using it in a deal at the deadline. In the meantime, he can play a little off the bench.
EDIT: Damn, just saw he signed with Chicago.

Is Kyle Anderson still out there?

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Barlow
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

I think what you'll see is us target some other veteran big wings to log backup PF minutes for the vet minimum. Batum, Ingles, Anderson, etc. Maybe Lamar Stevens for his defense.
Obviously there are rotations possible when he's effectively the 4, but he's a better perimeter defender than interior defender. Playing a big chunk of his minutes at PF on a team deprived of forwards is not the best argument imo. I'd rather have someone next to him with more interior presence than Oubre, Maxey, McCain, Council, Lowry, etc. for the majority of his minutes.

If we can't get Lauri, I'd make a push for Cam Johnson or DFS.

We'd be the new Celtics, as in we'd shoot the **** out of the ball. The good part though is that our players a little more dynamic, with Maxey/George/Jo all able to easily create their own shot.

Knicks got a lot weaker IMO. Mitch can't be relied on.

Is that not a **** ton of money for Hartenstein?

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
It is here where you have to give Chris Paul some love. He did a great job with the Thunder team all year helping them get better and being more competitive than expected. And yes Mike Muscala hit the winning shot, but if not for Chris Paul there would be no Maxey on the 76ers. #Facts.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

It really just needs to be a guy other teams can’t seek out and pick on in the post. Certainly doesn’t need to be a traditional “power” F. A long, athletic guy between 6’6-6’8 would be fine. Especially if Oubre is the starting SG, he has more than enough size/switch ability to help make up for a lack of height at the 2nd F spot. And I would say Oubre starting at SG makes the need for a 2nd F that can shoot and space the floor more important, you don’t want 2 below average shooters out there.

I believe the Knicks made a mistake by overpaying for Bridges. While Bridges is indeed more valuable than Hartenstein, the difference isn't substantial. Given their roster, the Knicks should prioritize acquiring top-end talent rather than adding depth.
Not only are they worse than us, but they also depleted their draft picks for a borderline star wing.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
