Are you referring to Chet being better at the 5'? If so I agree and sure on paper they look better but running a traditional big is gonna hurt their versatility a bit in my opinion. I think a starting 5 of Shai-Caruso-Dort-JWill-Chet is just better and more dominant on both ends w/ the spacing. I'm sure OKC staff is smarter than me, so they'll still be very good. But I wouldn't be surprised if the lineup they run more in the 4th is w/ Chet at the 5'. I can see Hartenstein playing a Warriors Looney sort of role 20 min (that would work well), but the cost to sign him to play that role is pretty crazy. 3rd year isn't team option?

Either way I love OKC's depth. Wallace, Joe, Wiggins as backup guards locked in the next 3 years is absolutely crazy and gives them lots of options in trades too.

What a massive overpay. This means OKC doesn’t believe Chet can play the center position, or they just paid Hartenstein $87 million to be a backup.

I’m not intimately familiar with the Thunders cap situation, but I don’t they needed to spend 30M for a backup center (on their team)

I can't hate on this. They picked up a very useful player for basically free. Maybe his contract becomes a problem later, but I think they know what they are doing in OKC contract and otherwise.

I'm just jealous of OKC is my main problem.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

That’s a steep price for Hartenstein ($29m per season), but OKC has gotten 2 huge fit upgrades to the team now along with Caruso.

OKC might be a WCF lock.

Ok OKC, after the Giddey trade, you just have improved that starting 5 by a mile. It’s still going to be about matchups in the playoffs so the battle for #1 spot is really going to be interesting— four teams legitimately have a shot of that spot!

Can we just start the season already?

Depends on if they are going to do the all-Nova lineup + OG or not. In that case OG is the center.

That hurts for the Knicks, especially since Mitch can't stay healthy. But they had no money to give him I'm sure.

they're in a good spot but i think they still need a secondary iso scorer to really give them the leg up.

Jalen Williams has been improving continuously and is ready to step into this role in my opinion. Its just been a matter of touches and the inefficient Giddey possessions will go to him (like when teams left him unguarded).

Last year Jalen Williams put up 19/4/4.5 on 54/42/81 which is elite. He's ready for a bigger role.

Great deal for OKC, especially if the report of the last year not being guaranteed is true. Hartenstein gives OKC exactly what they need the most, a legit 7 footer who is a great defender and rebounder with plenty of physicality and also an excellent passer.

One would think that Chet and JWill make mini (maybe even substantive) leaps. Pair that with the additions of Hartenstein and Caruso…
