Celtics will probably pivot to guys like Bitadze, T Bryant, Covington, Muscala, Saric, Theis, Watford, T Young, Bamba if they can't agree to a deal with Tillman. Celtics may just sign Anton Watson.

Gimme some Theis if Xman walks.

That stay ready crew would need to hit the beach

There's Tillman and Theis. Also Wiseman, Bitadze, Precious, Saric, Bamba, and others. Some may not be realistic for Boston, but they'll take spots with other teams leaving someone available.

We have Porzingis (once healthy), Queta, Kornet, and Horford to cover center position. We probably need more of a backup 4 or hybrid 4/5 but would still want some beef, defense, and rebounding there.

Saric, Theis, Holmes, Wagner, Achiuwa, Muscala still available.

For hybrid 3/4s, Covington, Batum, Prince, Anderson, Thad Young lol.

EDIT: There are many more FAs on the younger side/mid-20s. So maybe Brad goes that route as he did with Brissett last season.

Saric or Achiuwa would be interesting.

Saric because he's a steady, reliable guy who has proven he can handle rotation mins and can shoot the 3 which is of course nice to have since BOS shoots more 3's than any team in the league.

Achiuwa is pretty similar to Tillman..similar size..similar age..both much better on D than O..limited on O, suspect shooting but some shooting potential.

Tillman seems slightly better on D, much better passer/playmaker..plus already knows our system and has built up some chemistry with our guys so of course he is the preference but Achiuwa might not be a bad alternative if Tillman is too expensive but Achiuwa is willing to sign for the min.

Bamba, no thanks. He is known to be a guy who always seems to fall short of expectations/potential on any team he's on..bounces from team to team because no wants wants him, had reputation as a lazy, low effort player.

Bitadze..maybe he's a last resort type of signing for the min..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Honestly I think they may be looking to see how Watson does in the summer league. If he looks the part he could get signed outright as an X replacement

Problem with Theis is if it's Embiid or Jokic, he's unplayable.

We already saw this in the past.

The way I see it, he will sign for the minimum on a contender and retire next summer. I don't know if it will be us, but I am certain Brad has spoken to him for sure.

Maybe, or Detroit is lining up a 4/100 million deal for him.

I think my Wiseman dream is dead with the C’s bringing back both the true 7 footers. A 3/4 hybrid is the most likely scenario at this point. Slo Mo would be nice but he’s gotta be worth more than the minimum one would think

Whoever is Harris' agent deserves a statue in Tobias' yard. Maybe he already has one.

Yeah. And Tillman showed us that he is basically equal to Al defensively..if anything, he's slightly quicker moving his feet to stay with quicker/shiftier guards out on the perimeter (Al has lost a step in this aspect, being age 38).

But Al has still shown he can defend Embiid better than pretty much anyone in the league.

So the preference is certainly to bring back Tillman..

Center depth charts around the NBA:

ATL - Okongwo/Capela
BRK - Claxton/Sharpe (Clowney can also play here)
CHA - $Mark Williams/Nik Richards
CHI - Vucevic/Jalen Smith
CLE - Allen and then technically no backup but Mobley plays here too besides starting at PF
DAL - Gafford/Lively/Powell (Kleber plays here too)
DEN - Jokic/Nnaji/DeAndre Jordan/1st rounder Holmes
DET - Jalen Duren/Beef Stew (would hope for their sake Beef Stew at PF is done)
GSW - Looney/Trayce Jackson-Davis (Draymond plays here too)
HOU - Sengun/Adams/Landale
IND - Turner/Isaiah Jackson (Toppin plays here too)
LAC - Zubac then no backup
LAL - Ant/Wood/Hayes
MEM - Edey only pure 5 but JJJ and Aldima play here as well
MIA - Bam/1st rounder Ware/Love/Orlando Robinson
MIL - Lopez/Portis
MIN - Gobert/Reid (KAT plays here too)
NOP - only the rookie Missi
NYK - Mitch Robinson/Jericho Sims (Randle plays here too)
OKC - Chet/Hartenstein/Jaylin Williams (not the good Williams lol)
ORL - WCJ and no backup (Isaac plays here some and they have rights on Wagner though)
PHI - Embiid/Drummond/B-Ball Paul
PHX - Nurkic/Plumlee (Bol plays here too)
POR - Ayton/Clingan/Timelord/Duop Reath
SAC - Sabonis/Len (Lyles plays here too)
SAS - Collins/Bassey (Wemby plays here too)
TOR - Poeltl/Olynyk (Boucher plays here too)
UTA - Kessler/Eubanks (Collins plays here too)
WAS - JVal/Holmes/Bagley (Sarr could play here too)

How many of those teams could offer Tillman a bigger role than here?

How many of those teams have exceptions or cap space to offer more than the minimum?

How many of those teams does he makes sense for (i.e. would they prefer his play style to a stretch big like Saric or someone else available)?

How many of those teams check all those boxes for Tillman but just prefer to sign someone at another spot or even a different but similar big man?

That's a good spot. I assume they'll bring back Wagner but both he and WCJ could, in theory, play some PF to open up C minutes. WCJ always hurt too.

BUT, that's a team that really needs perimeter playmaking and shooting. Could also see them allocating their remaining cap space and room exception to that over a 3rd C.

Skimming that last real quick..the team that jumps off the page is the Pelicans. They're a team that just added Dejounte so they are trying to win and get to the playoffs.

If all they have at C is a raw 20 yr old rookie, that's trouble with a capital T.

Wouldn't shock me if we see a woj bomb that says Tillman is signing there on a multi year deal..his age fits their timeline too..
