So if the math I've seen is mathing, the most cap space any team now has to offer Miles is $27M?

Jazz still have more than that, because this Eubanks signing could be a Mid level exception usage.

The obvious subtext with the Jazz is that a Markkanen trade is possible and in that situation they’d need a scoring forward. That’s where I’d expect them to enter the Bridges conversation. But until then I doubt it.

is 3 yr $87 M deal for Hartenstein a barometer for Miles, it seems like MIles is better than Hartenstein though H did start through the playoffs

Things are heading in a positive direction for Hornets.

Ideally we want all teams to have sub 20 million in cap space, because that will give the Hornets the leverage to sign him for a cheaper deal or they will have the ability to negotiate a sign and trade if no team has the outright space to give him what he wants.

It'll be like PJ from last year, he'll stay unsigned for a couple months and be forced to take a discount here. Or a sign & trade.

Eh I don't think so, unless Utah strings him along for awhile I think we will have closure on Miles by end of the week.

He only has himself to blame. Dude was literally 16 hours away from signing a near max extension last year.

As the off-season progresses, I anticipate his contract term to get shorter and shorter.

Maybe a 2+1 becomes what him and his agent are looking for

Realistic SnT destinations IMO. Based on need/contracts that can be used to match.

Sacramento- Rumored to be in Ingram, but some waivering if he is actually available. Kings have Huerter/Barnes/Lyles to match up salary wise.

Clippers- Chasing Klay, Demar. Could see them flip back to us. PJ Tucker, Norman Powell and Terrence Mann are moveable contracts.

Lakers - Chasing Klay, Demar. Could see them flip back to us. DLo, Rui, Vando, Vincent are all moveable contracts.

Utah- rumored to like him and maybe sign him outright. but could prefer to SnT to maintain cap space for Markkanen extension.

Outside of that I think returning to Charlotte is really likely, unless we really decide to pass on him hard and force him to sign for the MLE somewhere for a year.

This is probably far fetched, but wonder if Utah would consider a Miles + multiple picks S&T for Lauri. Lauri is obviously better right now but if they view the gap between those players as not that big, but can add even more draft capital, perhaps it’s of interest to everyone. Again, realize that’s far fetched but that would be a great usage of Miles as an asset.

When you play in Charlotte you find out the league doesn't really value you.

PJ and Bridges finding out you not really like that.

Great summary. I’d be MOST interested in a swap for Markkanen, my first choice in a S&T, as I agree he’s a great fit here. Next could see Hacimura as part of some deal, but not sure our new cabal would be keen on it. Don’t want anything the Clippers have (yard sale players at this point and picks would be way off into the future). The Kings would love to offload Barnes and Lyles, but do they really help us? Give me Barnes and Devin Carter and maybe we’re talking.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Miles isn’t getting signed because of his arrests, not playing in Charlotte. He also has a terrible agent who will screw their own clients to maintain leverage.

I’ll also say that, if we can’t do a S&T deal with the Jazz for Markkanen, and no other trade around the league was appealing, I would consider dealing Miles for John Collins, IF Utah would sweeten the deal enough.

Markkanen is worth like 4 firsts probably, no chance the Jazz are entertaining him for a guy that nobody in the league wants unless Charlotte is throwing in a bunch of firsts.

Same with Devin Carter and the Kings. I think their offer would likely be Barnes, Huerter and a few 2nds for Miles.

If we trading with the Jazz I would be fine with Collins/2 1st for Bridges.

Utah gets a wing upgrade. We get a stretch pf + 2 future 1st. Sets us up for a major trade in the future.

If we want Markkanan just be good next year and make the pitch in free agency to give him the max. Although if we acquired Green's contract that lowers that chance

There is no way Utah is trading away their own draft capital when they aren't trying to win.
