Smart for White to lock in the money. He's great in his role for Boston and that's a lot of guaranteed money entering his age 30 season. Look at what KCP just signed for, how could White pass this up.

This was the max he could sign for now. He could have gone to free agency next year but that means a whole year of injury risk.
My guess is that he could have commanded OG Anunoby type AAC ($42.5M). But he's like 3 or 4 years older next year than OG was this year so probably not the 5th year. So my guess is he ended up sacrificing about $40M over 4 years with this extension. But he gets the security now.
I worked at Sam Adams up until recently. I should have checked how much that marketing deal was for lol

Good for both for getting the contract done but Boston did very well to get him at just 31m AAV.

Glad he got the money, he could be injured and lose out. This is close to what he would have got anyway and a nice deal for Boston.
