Started 70 games and put up 17-6-3 and played decent defense. That's not nothing.

Yeah well he kinda disapeared in the playoffs.

What are playoffs?

But this is the kind of contract that a pretty good, but not great guy gets. And Detroit isn’t locked into it too long.

Agreed. I mean ideally they'd add several 1st round picks for taking bad money but it doesn't seem like there's a huge market for that. On court they could really use a PF and shooting. And it's not like they have to worry about him disappointing in the playoffs.

Yeah, we still have $24 million of cap. Bring on those FRP for cap space deals. I'm thinking they don't exist.

Most players disappear to a degree in the playoffs. It is extremely rare for players to be as productive in the post-season as they are in the regular season. It is even more rare for players to be better in the post-season compared to the regular season.

But Tobias Harris was better than fine the past 3 playoffs and was really only bad in the 6 game series against the Knicks [News flash: Sample Size Alert]. Harris from 2021-2023 [3 Playoff Runs] is at 2.3 BPM, 58 TS%, 20.3 USG% and just 7.3 TOV%. He is a decent volume scorer, good floor spacer, low turnover piece who fills a role on any team. When he is paid like he was the past 4-5 seasons then the juice isn't worth the squeeze. At 26 AAV over 2 seasons he is definitely worth that pay per production.

Tobias Harris is a significantly better player than Bruce Brown, who was signed for 2/45 just last year by YOUR Indiana Pacers.

Tobias Harris isn't an MLE level player being paid double. He is a solid starter being paid solid starter money.
