Nothing against Batum, but I want Kobe Brown to get his shot next season. Go young and don't backtrack!!

I really like the DJJ pick up. I think he can get a lot of minutes.

Same with MPJ. Most of the time you won't strike gold on "discount" players, but once in awhile you do (Batum, iHart, etc). Just have to keep trying when you don't have much money to work with.

I guess the replacement for PG's scoring will be coming from another signing and not internally? Between the mentioned DeRozan and Klay, I prefer DeRozan mainly because of Klay's injury history, but it doesn't sound like he's very interested.

And while it's kinda sad Westbrook is likely being moved, it has to be done. He looked pretty good in his first year, but fell off hard in the second year. Seems like he still wants decent minutes.

From what I read, Jokic really wants to play with Russ. He will be better for them than Reggie Jackson.

I think Kobe will definitely get a chance to prove himself. It's not easy to be a rotation player on a good team as a rookie. From November 29 to December 29, he got to play 14 games / 12.5 mpg including 4 games with 15+ mins. That's a good stretch to say, okay, he's got some skills, but he's not ready yet.

He averaged:
2.8 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.9 apg, 2.0 fpg, 39.5% FG, 30.8% 3PT (1.9 3PA)

Not bad for 12.5 mpg. Per 36, that's:
8.1 pts, 4.9 rebs, 2.6 asts, 5.8 fouls

He's got some passing instincts, he has a shot that looks like it can be solid, and he's willing defensively. I think as long as he improves from adjusting to the league, the longer line, how to play defense, he has a chance.

He got more burn than for example, Peyton Watson as a rookie who got 23 games / 186 minutes, but as a sophomore got 80 games / 1488 minutes. Kobe got 44 games / 394 minutes, so things look not too bad for him as long as he of course improves. He's not a potential guy, he was a 24 year old rookie, already has an NBA body, so the main thing for him is just adjusting, and the off-season he knows what he needs to work on for the NBA.

Really happy to have Batum back.

I did sorta call this one. Nico's family is still in LA, and he LOVES Ty, so why not pick up a few mil while you're here anyway.

As for Kobe and anyone else 6-7 or over, Nico should play no more than 20 mpg, so there's still plenty of room to drink from the fire hose.

I wonder if we can land Bridges from this list. He would be make a nice big no more guards or tweeners. Now that 213 era is officially rubble, we can go away from the wing, switch everything and fail defense. Perhaps, take a flyer on Wiseman too? Team really needs to get bigger on the boards and not rely on shooting nothing but 3s.

I agree with this. I imagine signing him is mainly for locker room purposes, as well as a decent 3pt shooter. I still remember that one post game interview where he giving Mann huge props after a big game :)

Bridges would be great. This is starting to look like a misfit version of Moneyball lol. They would give the Jailblazers a run for their money.

That would be beyond stupid by the FO. Unless they think Russ can make Denver worse ?

Would definitely like Achiuwa.. good hustler on both ends, versatile defender.

Captain Ballmer wrote:Some FA names to fill back-up 4-5 with Bi annual Exception(2 year 9M USD) and rest of NonTax Mid Level Exception(Up to 4 year with 3.7 M USD);

James Wiseman; Athletic back-up 5 with rim pressure.
Goga Bitadze, Traditional center skills with upside to be placeholder starter.
Jalen Smith, 4-5 tweener can stretch the floor
Precious Achiuwa, Athletic back-up 4-5 solid Rebounder.
Xavier Tillman, Back-up 4-5 most all around option to me.
Chimezu Metu, Athletic back-up 4-5 solid Rebounder.
Saddiq Bey, Starter Level 3-D upside but will miss most of the next season.
Chuma Okeke, back-up 4 with 3-D potential

All under 30 age but If we make one exception for that, then there is also Nic Batum.

I'd take any of those guys other than Bey .. unfortunately Jalen Smith went to the Bulls, better them than a west rival like the Pelicans or Dallas.. Damn!

Agreed. Too much money for Hartenstein.

Like this pickup. Though at 6'6" I was hoping for a bit more size. Could be a good bench piece.

Clipp312s wrote:How ironic we signed the player that made PG's life tough in the playoffs. I was thoroughly impressed with DJJ in the playoffs. Great pick-up for a reasonable contract. Let's see what else is next...

Definitely can't complain too much, DJJ has gotten better as a shooter and will get plenty of open looks.. I'd rather of gotten Jalen Smith, but oh well. DJJ will bring things the team needs on the wing.

Fine with Russ' going.. just not enough of a role here for him even off the bench now, but certainly had a lot of great moments and stretches.

donemilio21 wrote:from what I understand Reggie Jackson trade from Denver to Charlotte is not finalized.
If Nuggets want Westbrook, we can probably do a 3 team trade and pick up Mark Williams from the Hornets to be our back up Center.

Would luv to see that.

Definitely on the Miles Bridges train.

Don't mind Batum coming back, had a solid year with Philly.. but would still like to still have some athleticism + size rep. at PF. Team still needs that decently.

Xaiver Tillman would be great, love his game as a utility agile big on both ends. Okeke, Metu and Achiuwa as well.

Team isn't done making moves for sure.. still got a few more things to address.

100% to all of this. Out from under the noose of the expectations of 213, hopefully we can now be freer with our rotations. Despite what everyone says about Ty, I believe we will. It's a different time now, TBH it's refreshing even if our ceiling is lower for awhile.

didn't expect Batum to come back. He probably is gonna be the main back-up for Kawhi and Jones Jr.. could be small ball Center, if we don't get anyone beyond Zu.
Still have Tucker, Westbrook on the roster.
It would be great to get Miles Bridges, but that would make Batum signing redundant so not seeing it happening.

I was hoping for a 3 team deal between DEN and CHA, where we get Bridges via S&T, Denver gets Westbrook and Charlotte gets Reggie Jackson and Tucker.

I think the team should slow down on players who have had legal trouble or some domestic abuse related issue.

Got a lot of talent though, but it's a bit much.

Zach Lowe and Bobby Marks says the second apron rationale for not giving PG a fourth year just doesn't add up.

The Clippers were willing to give PG 3 years at approximately $50 million and that would have put them in the second apron during the 3 years of KL and PG's extension.

In the fourth year, they'd have gotten big contracts off the books.

So the conclusion is that the Clippers were waving the white flag on the KL-PG core but used the alibi of the second apron to make it palatable.
